iPod (OEM MOST ipod interface) Report after 1 day

While you guys wait for the interface, I will continue to enjoy the IPOD now with an Option that I can live with until something better comes along than this. i'm not paying for almost half the cost of the entire Logic 7 just to use the Ipod. The rest of you might want to start buring CD's.

You should wait until official pricing is released before you state that the adapter will cost "almost half the cost of the entire Logic 7."

I called my Dealership yesterday afternoon and talked to them about this and they told me that the part is available.

i talked to the service lady at Parkview BMW here in Toronto....they booked me in for a friday morning apointment.

i read all the posts in this thread first and saw that its not available until july so im kinda worried that they are going to install the old one...but i asked and they said that its the new one...im gonna call again and make sure.

Yes, I would be too. We're all going to need a part number or such to confirm. The fact you are in Canada may also complicate matters.

I was told by my SA here in Ktown that this is alraedy out in Germany, and has been for some time. That release date of the end of July, is that for the US and Canada only?

The release in July is for the U.S. only.

Other markets come later so no, it's not out.

Make sure that you are not mistaken with IPOD CONNECTION RETROFIT KIT for cars without professional audio system and navigation. This one was available for a while.

It's not out so caveat emptor. They will be out in the U.S. in July - other markets will come later.

If they can replace major engine and transmission parts as well as electronics I dont think they will have trouble with an I-Pod interface.

Below is my SA in Kaiserslautern, Germany response:

This is the german part number ( 65 41 0 404 330 ) for the i-Pod
connection. Maybe there is a new connection comming but this is the one that
we have since a couple months. It gets wired to the glove box and you
can control your i-Pod on the steering wheel radio controls.

Are we all talking about the same thing???

I wouldn't want my car to be the first e90 at a particular dealership to have major engine or transmission parts replaced either. Same goes for the i-pod interface.

I'll still get it, but I'll just make sure the technicians at the dealership have done this on a few cars before I bring in mine.

I was just in Parkview last week and my rep showed me the 'new' Ipod interface they just got in... it is the one mentioned elsewhere that adds a separate screen for the Ipod information (check simnew's posts as well as JSpira's reply early in this thread). My rep at Parkview and their parts guy had no other info on the new interface that is coming soon. I would not get the one they currently have in stock when the new (proper) ipod integration is coming so soon... plus the one they currently have is very expensive (approx. $1000CDN installed).

Just to clarify, it is a 'new' interface as they've just received it (at Parkview) for the first time, but it is clearly not the 'new' interface that JSpira is referrring to. If you call them back (I strongly suggest you do) I'd forward them a copy of the press release on the OEM MOST Ipod Interface and ask them if they have info on when it is due...

i called again this morning and left a message, i guess they were busy.

anyways...a little while later a guy calls me and tells me that the best way to hook up my ipod is through the aux input in the armrest. I almost lost it, i specifically in the message said "new interface to be able to control the ipod from the idrive controler". so i ask him if he has ever heard of "ipod your bmw", he says no. then i tell him to go to the website and he says he has 3 people standing in front of him waiting.

im still waiting to hear back now again,...keep you all posted....vise you are probably right though

Trust me, you don't want the current interface they have. According to this site (mostly from JSpira) the new new (actually new!) Ipod MOST interface will be out September or so in Canada. Once the part is available in the US I'm sure we'll know the part number/have more info...

Aside from that, Parkview has been awesome to deal with... but thats off topic I suppose.

I just called my CA to ask about this. He knew exactly what I was talking about and knew availability. He also knew about the recall and the mandatory software upgrade. He will call me when it's time to provide me a loaner and perform all the necessary work. This all pending pricing discussion of course.
