$2000 for an intake, please don't do it DINAN that would be crazy! If you think how much one pays for all the Dinan engine/bolt on mods including this intake your talking $10K+ and that car would still lose to a Vishnu or Juicebox tune only car.. better to save your money and put towards a complete updgraded turbo kit of some kind like ASR or HPF.. or just get a piggy and call it a day, my 2 cents

Why not? People are willing to pay $1600 for a set of BMW mufflers

This should be interesting I was at the Dealer in Austin when Steve gave his presentation on all the great thing Dinan is doing and I guess he has to charge us premium rates to pay for the money they spend on race car engines. Don't get me wrong I love my stage II flash but 1800 for some mufflers and 1500 for some shocks and springs is a bit much.

I would not pay more than 150 since it is just the top of the stock box, a snorkel and a filter. The only premium is if this is smog approved. I don't think any of the other systems are at this point, but I could be wrong.

Seriously, if Dinan charges 1000.00 or more, very few people are gonna buy them...it's one thing to charge 2k USD for a flash....fine, warranty is good, it's a true tune with alot of R&D...fine. But for some plastic tubing, I won't pay more than 400.....I'd still rather get an injen DCI for that money...Injen makes quality intakes, with a LOT and spend a lot of time and money on R&D as well, so if they charge $400 for theirs, which looks SIIIIIICK, and sounds amaaaaaazing, then Dinan has no reason to charge any more than that. I'm not just writing this to "share my opinion", or "vent", but I really hope Steve reads this, and all of our comments, and passes on to whoever at Dinan will ultimately be responsible for pricing.....

There. Sorry.

What is he supposed to respond to, you wanting to name your own price? Seems like he answered the questions he could at this point in development.

The filter can be accessed one of two ways:

1) By removing the cover in the wheel well

2) By removing the bumper (which is actually a pretty quick job)

Steve, you are still not answering the big questions we are all waiting answers on. Can you please elaborate on these.....

How often do we need to do that? How much is the kit? Thats what we really care about so we know if its for us. I want one, but only at a price that is easy on the throat.

LOL, I have removed the bumper, and no, its not that quick of a job. The wheel well cover isn't too bad to remove, but its still all extra steps to clean a filter which will get exponentially more dirty than those in the engine bay.

I assume you also have to remove the cross brace in the wheel well area just like you do for the other CAI's?

I like the idea of an extra source of cold air for the stock airbox, its just all extra steps to get to the filter that I don't like. It would only be worth it IMO if the price were kept to around $200, which I highly doubt will be the case.

Hmm ... just hafta remove the bumper. Seems simple enough. And here I regularily slice one of my fingers just trying to get at the stock air filter. Will this system get much more air into the box than a good set of hood scoops?
