I'm not sure what your point is. Some of the most successful people in the world have also dropped out, this is not the norm. In the real world, degrees do matter, and the school you went to does matter. Will you be successful if you do not go to a top school? sure. Do you have a better chance by attending a top school? yes. The statement whether or not you should go for your MBA unless its at a top school holds true for many reasons. We're not saying you won't learn anything, and than you can't be inspired. Hell the course work is damn near the same, minus a few unique courses at the ivy. There are many reasons these top school breed winners, some say its because they are already probably well off, some say its because of peer pressure to be a winner, some say connections, etc.. My first post in this thread was that I was not attending for a jd or mba, because I already analyzed it for my perspective, and you should too. The only thing I ask people is not to have any false hopes when going for these degrees. Many students are fooled into thinking obtaining these degrees that they are guaranteed success. Anything can happen.

It really depends on where you think you want to live. Many times "local" MBA's get a leg up on the competition.
There are plenty of great business schools and all have their strengths. Kelley School of Business (Indiana University). Kellogg (Northwestern University). |

I thought about doing business as my undergrad but ultimately decided to do Mathematics and it's paid off tremendously, while I see most of my business major friends floating around unemployed or in stinky jobs (yes most of them went to Ivy League schools).
