Point of a clutch stop is to bring the travel very close to engagement point, the CPS sensor will not pickup until "miles" away from the engagement point by design. You might be able to limit travel slightly but it is nothing like what a real clutch stop does.

Just finished installing the e92-lightning.com clutch stop on my 135i and verify no problems. No problems starting the car up, makes the car feel MUCH more drivable, and this might be the final ingredient into speeding up shift times, as I have an SSK and CDV delete. Slightly longer than '06-current Honda Civic Si clutch travel (which is a good thing) no grinding gears due to the clutch not being fully engaged (i've slammed the gears pretty hard as a test) I got sick of the wife bitching and moaning about the clutch travel being too long and impossible to drive smoothly in her heels or platforms so I gave this a shot.
Excellent mod, (wish it was cheaper than $20 + shipping, supply and demand I guess) would recommend it! On a side note, does anyone know where to get the stock clutch stop? I tore mine up removing it, and I don't see it as an actual part on any of the BMW parts sites.

So I finally got around to installing my E92 Lighting Clutch Stop. Didn't go as easy as I had hoped, and didn't manage to in the end. Tried for like over half an hour! The bloody "speed nut" wouldn't go in.
For those who have done it, can you tell me what trick you used? How much did you open it up to get it in? The problem was when I tried to squeeze it on (with pliers, as was recommended by them, b/c it was so hard to push on), it was not open enough. So I opened it up, and it went on, but then it was too open for the screw to catch the back part of it! And then it finally broke! Here's a pic of how much open it was before it would go on. And below it is what it should look like installed. PS What is that thing on the left called an "optical connector"? It had two wires going to it, and the end of it was just a square black cap visible from under the panel. No idea what it does. I pulled on it pretty hard at first to get it off, and hope I didn't break it, so I was going to see if there's any way to know if it's working or not. (3rd pic) . . . Hey , I wish I could help but I got my shop to put it in for me.
as I am not a DIY type of person so I don't know. But I was standing right beside him and it took him about 15 mins. MAX

The wires are still nice and tight in their connector from what I can tell. So would there be a way to know in case I messed them up? Or the next firmware update I get at the dealer will be the test of it? |

You should be fine, if the cap is removed, audio will drop.

Edit : didnt read the thread. If there is still an interest I will work on a DIY for a clutch stop for our cars. Ive made a few different kinds but mine seems to hold up pretty well and it was like 5 bucks worth of stuff from ACE Hardware lol

This one doesn't use clips or screws. It just pops right in

I had the ebay one for 2 weeks, works good. Took a couple days to get use to it, removes 3/4 inch of travel.
