Very impressive numbers. I know what my next car will be now, just whether to get the coupe or sedan now.

Speaking of the Xede.... are there any features that clearly won't transfer over from the EVO world? Such as the Smart system, Meth Injection, launch control, no lift shift, etc. I know these items haven't been developed yet, but wanted to know if some were straight out impossible on the 335 with the Xede.

Oh and for the people that haven't met Shiv at a dyno day... the dyno tunes are impressive and the test drives afterwards are very nice too. I had the opportunity to work the dyno while he was tuning several cars in Houston and the gains just with the Xede were very nice indeed

Not only does the 335 make power everywhere, but the gearing is perfect for the power output. Those two items in one package makes for a very potent street car. I think light to light it would be close with my car, just because the Evo can put down the power right off the bat. But from a roll, lights out on the evo.

Wow. Very nice. So have you ever took your evo to the track? Just curious on what it does at the 1/4 mile?

Hello Shiv,

I am curious. Is 11psi the most boost you want to run with this engine? If you run let's say 13 psi will it have detonation problems? So a larger turbo would do no good on this car unless the engine was taken apart and the compression ratio lowered. Is that accurate?

This is exciting to read up on! I got rid of my 98 vette for my 335I coupe 8 days ago... I cant wait for this to be available! you guys are awesome... Any idea as to when this might be a finished project? weeks, months, longer...? Either way it'll be worth the wait.. Thanks for the dedication.... ~Roy~

Nice shot of your car justbe,,,,,,,,, and great color too!!!!!

Keep up the good work Shiv,,,,,

Cant wait for the videos. Hopefully you get a shot of some nice long tire marks left on the pavement!

So your partner was saying his evo with cams+ supporting mods, tbe, ect and all ,except larger turbo, will be looking at 335i tail lights ,,,,

is this your feeling too?

Shiv, that's great, but isn't there some wiring to be undone as well?

What kind of gains can you get with NO hardware while being undetectable?

Thanks

Yes, as a fellow EVO 8 owner, I'd like to know this too... I find it very hard to believe a basic-tune 335i is faster than a IX with all the mods....

Of course, this block does not have the history that the 4G63 does, so we'll see what happens.

Also, you should know that BMW's are not known for having "lots of brakes" LOL. You might want to call StopTech or Brembo if you're planning on taking it to the track.

If I sound a a little pissed ... well, I have a stock EVO8 as my daily driver, a new Mz4 Coupe and I'm on the list for the V8 M3... wouldn't you be pissed too if you were reading about 330+whp 335i's????

Congrats though on laying the smack down on Steve DINAN! LOL!!! :rocks:

Please don't forget to possibly have a unit that can run 94 octane in Canada and then switchable to the lower 91 or less when we Canadian's cross the border south! I guess kinda like a valet mode option

I think, at this point at least, larger turbos are pretty much out of the question. On pump gas, we're going to be limited by the amount of boost we can run. While a larger single or larger dual turbos may be able to provide more airflow, more efficiently, the gains probably wont be enough to offset the inevitable loss in boost response. What's the point of 20 more whp at 7000rpm if you lose 70hp at 3000rpm? But this is all speculation since i have yet to see or drive any turbo upgrades for this car.

cheers,
shiv

Thanks for the kind words. Forgive me for my lack of memory.. were you operating the dyno at Engine Logics? Or do I have my dynos mixed up? Regardless, nice to see you here!

As for the Xede, just about all the features we've developed for the Evo/Suby can apply to the Bimmer. Although I'm not sure how many 335i owners would want to run methanol, no lift shift, launch control, etc,. At first, we're going to try to keep things simple with respect to options. Perhaps just offer map switching and a few different maps for people to chose from.

Keep us updated Shiv...when do you expect this product for sale? Price etc? And can it be installed by an average Joe like myself?

I think so. The power delivery is so different so its hard to know for sure. We're bound to do some road comparisons soon, of course. Also, keep in mind that Dustin has an early Evo VIII (with smaller exhaust housing), not an Evo IX).

Quote:

With just the Xede (no exhaust), I suspect we could pick up 40whp and 40lbft of torque on 91oct. Still good but being able to hear the exhaust and pick up another chunk of power is a hard thing to resist.

Cheers,
shiv

No ETA just quite yet. We're still trying to source the parts necessary to make this an easy installation for even the most novice of wrenches.

Yes, the stock car will get better fuel economy under boosted conditions than a tuned car. After all, it is making less power and using up less gas by running much leaner. But I suspect most customers are going to be able to live with a couple less mpgs under boosted conditions when the upside is 75lb-ft more torque. Unfortunately, this was a tradeoff that BMW wasn't allowed to make for a number of reasons (fuel consumption targets, M3 canibalizing, emissions standards, etc,.) Fortunately, folks like us operate on a different set of constraints.

PS. Good God Dustin! Look at the time. Don't you have work tomorrow?
So if I put your software in a 335i and drive like a normal person, would I have worse fuel economy then the stock model?

I cannot speak for shiv so I dont know if it will make economy worse but as far as I know you can have 2 maps on the XEDE device... so stock could be one and tuned can be another... switch back and forth.
