Bad thing I experienced with a true CAI set up was when I had an INJEN on my 2000 Eclipse. I wasnt aware that it needed a water guard during rainy days which in Oregon can be quite often. That sucker was soaked so bad im sure aid had a harder time being sucked in....also taking that thing off and putting it on can be a pain in the ass since the CAI was placed pretty awkward under my bumper...just thought Id share.

Your pretty much going to have that risk on any CAI, I had a K&N CAI on my 07 Accord, but it had one of those water shield wraps... Never had an issue though, but CAI all have that issue, not just INJEN, or AEM, or K&N, but they do get cold air into the system better than a DCI. The Injen, AFE, BMS or Vishnu system are all DCI's... Some are just a little more fancy looking than others.

If you want to stay cheap and don't care about the looks, get the BMS, Vishnu or do a DIY DCI... If you want to dress up your engine bay a little, get the INJEN. If you want the dress up your engine and possibly loose or gain HP/TQ, then get the AFE

Bomis, I was hooked up by JBSPEED which is one of our vendors out here... He gave me a pretty descent deal today.. So, I just grabbed one!! Can't damn wait..

Here's one to make some decide better, most INJEN intakes are now excempted by CARB (California Air Resource Board)
In short, it's legal and no more fix it tickets for these intakes..
Too lazy explain everything here..
Just read more::::: http://www.injen.com/docs/injen/cont...aq_landing#six

Never knew it was illegal.... The BMS DCI is ~$150 shipped, definitely the best bang for your buck. Just ordered mine, can't wait.

No more AFE?

Until there are intakes that change some of the restrictive intake piping... gains aren't going to be ridiculous. BMS is a solid option, or a home depot!

Maybe wait.. Damn I should've received yours instead. My car has been sitting on the garage waiting for days w/ airbox off and steering fluid can's bracket removed..

LOL... IT was shipped from Cali too... As for legality, for SMOG purposes if it's not CARB approved then you won't pass emmissions... That's a small issue though, switch the stock box back in and you pass emissions... Unless of course you also have cat deletes and the such as well, then you have a lot of work to do, or better know someone who will pass you, no questions asked...

the carb exemption is really for piece of mind. I've had cops pull me over and look underthe hood. they went as far as to question the legality of a voltage stabalizer.

having the carb means one less thing to worry about.

Yea... I don't see an intake messing up your emissions...

But wasn't that on a stock car, What I mean is that they weren't running a Tune of any sort... Sooo Maybe the AFE (not defending AFE, seeing how I purchased an INJEN) looses HP/TQ without a tune, but with a Tune? Has anyone dyno'd with a JB3 or PROcede (or any other tune) and the AFE intake system?

Na after reading about getting no gain without a tune I decided against it. Plus I spur of the moment bought a 46" LED TV on sunday, so saving a few hundred was good for now haha.

I guess we're both in the same boat waiting for "someone" to fix the restrictive piping hahaha

I really don't see what difference a tune would make in regard to an intake though.

Just installed the BMS, took about 20 mins and it sounds great. If I knew how simple it was I would have just built one myself. Haha oh well!

Yeah I installed the INJEN last night, took maybe 45 minutes... Wasn't that hard to remove the stock box.. Only thing I don't like about it is the piece that goes to the one filter, but other than that, love the look, love the sound, not intrusive while driving, but cool to hear when you do hear it. I'm thinking I might buy another stock air inlet piece and rework it so that I could get more air to the intake (utilize both air scoops and not just one)... That will be an interesting project...

Good luck with sticking to only maps 1-3. This will last about two weeks. Start saving for more mods.
