Mate I have a fully clean licence 29yr old and 3yr NCB on my current london postcode they have been quoting me £1100-£1500 and I have no offences or anything... Insurance scums... I am going to be cheeky and quote my cousins post code, change the v5 to there as quotes on there seems to drop it to £500 odd for 3 years I have been paying over a grand for sod all... I could save over 600-700 quid... just a bit hesitant...

They're not daft mate.
It's all on databases now, it'll flag up if you say you 'live' somewhere else when you don't. If you have an accident or someone hits your car, are you going to lie to the police too about where you / the car live?? What about your driving licence address? Will you falsify that too? It could all get very nasty very quickly.... |

to ensure you invalidate your insurance cover! Is that why you are a bit hesitant? |

I know its wrong and yep hesitant on all those counts boys, I do understand its wrong but I cant afford to pay out £1500 in one month and when you want it in installments they charge you another £200 + Interest. my current insurers want £200 a month, this is too much for me. My cousins address is where I have some of my mail going to anyways so changing my licence address to there isnt a problem. But I might just increase my excess and see what happens

Maybe. But sod all is exactly what you'll get paid out when they discover the truth, too. This isn't the 80s when people could blag that kind of thing and insure half the family too, the insurance industry spends millions fighting fraud and corruption in order to avoid payouts. You'll just be another statistic to them, but it'll be a much bigger problem to you personally.
If you're confident that you won't be having any dings, then yep increasing your excess is the best option, and it can work quite well with some insurers. |

Thought it was only me having this problem.
28, 8 years NCB, no accidents or points ever and it went up from 850 to 1250 this year. Luckily Aviva did a good deal but the excess is a joke, they charge £300+250 because of the type of car :S |

Put it on a credit card, and set up a standing order for the premium amount divided by twelve. Then don't touch the standing order!
Also, you'd be paying a lower APR than the probably 20% the insurance company would charge you and there would be no added cost for spreading the payments. That's what I'd do, anyway. HTH |

I'm in an "E" area - not good, but with unbroken no claims bonus for over 30 years and clean license, I insure me and my wife for £296 with NCB protection and £150 excess.

KwikFit Insurance. I've used them before many moons ago but I rarely stay with one company. I would have switched my current policy with elephant but there was a bit of a language barrier with the call centre worker.
I know you were but wasn't sure others knew. . |

I had a massive range in quotes but got a 12months for 10 from Aviva. Came out at £242 for my 330d. That's me and the wife SDP + Business, clean licence and full no claims on a standard car, no mods.

To save opening another thread, Just got my renewal through from Privilege, gone up from £696 to £873 (no changes whatsoever except my and my wife are a year older). 10 minutes on confused dot com turns up quite a few between £600 and £700, with one clearly the cheapest by somemargin - Swiftcover at £524.
Anyone any experience of Swiftcover? |
