Definitely single turbo. Just read the Autocar review of 335i coupé in Sainsburys library! Thought the engine was a bit rough top end and not impressed with the "woodeness" of the ride/handling! Liked the DCT box though.

I think it's the brake pedal as you have to have it pressed other wise it will creap. The DSG box relies on the brake pedal, as you start to release the brake pedal then clutch engages.
I will speak to my brother in law today and find out how it works (He is a tech at Porsche) |

i think the M3 only gets the rear lights. Which I don't like as they are all red.
I'm hoping someone does black and white style like the new 5 series option. Neil.

Visited my delaer Saturday..
Subtle, is how I'd describe the LCI coupe, nothing to worry existing owners IMO,as said mirrors are too big, 313 wheels look good until you see callipers through the spokes, apart from that, nothing to get excited about |

I'd be interesting in the official angel eye bulb for the lci e92 if it would fit the pre lci e92. Is it still H8 sized, I wonder if they have redesigned the whole unit.
The angel eyes on the 5 series GT look really good |

In mine when I turn the engine off, the car automatically select nuetral, so I'd imagine with the stop/start feature you'll have to put your foot on the brake a reselect D.which will fire the engine back up.

Putting it in a drive mode with your foot on the brake I would imagine, same as dipping the clutch to select a drive gear in a manual will re-start the engine

Confusing though... The new coupe 335i says 'turbo' in the spec pages (and 196g/km) The current E90/1 335i says 'twin turbo' in the spec (and 199g/km) Interesting the E90/1 is now 199g/km as the previous 335i's were 223g/km The N55 single turbo is called 'TwinPower Turbo' but it only has 1 turbo? So if the new coupe has the N55 what is in the E90/1 to reduce the CO2 from 223 to 199?? This means ALL 335i must have the new N55 if the emissions figures are to be believed???? I hate the Stop/Start function. First thing I do when I start up the car is punch the button on the console to disable it

The new 335i is now using the N55 engine. It was not originally planned to go into the current generation 3er, but BMW Germany had a rethink of their plans and incorporated the new engine to reduce overall emissions of their product range.
The N55 is essentially the N54 engine, but with the adoption of Valvetronic and the implementation of a new single turbocharger with two scrolls, as opposed to the previous configuration of two turbochargers (single scroll) The Valvetronic adds variable valve lift to the arsenal of Efficient Dynamic technologies that BMW are using, and helps to lower emissions whilst improving throttle response and fuel consumption. Enabling variable control of the intake valves allows the elimination of a conventional throttle. When a conventional throttle is used to vary the volume of the intake charge allowed into the cylinder, the engine has to work against the throttle during partial throttle opening. This results in lost work, known as pumping losses. Valvetronic eliminates this parasitic loss and hence provides the increase in economy and improvement in emissions. The downside of Valvetronic is that it makes aftermarket tuning more difficult as it is one additional variable, and an important one at that given that it acts as a throttle, to control. The new dual-scroll single unit turbocharger is more efficient than the twin-turbo setup of the N54. The simple reason is that with a single turbocharger, exhaust pulse separation before the turbine is maintained and the exhaust pulse reaches the turbine every 120 degree of crank rotation, as opposed to 240 degrees with the old turbo configuration. Therefore, for every two complete crank revolutions (720 degrees), the new N55 turbos have handled 6 exhaust pulses compared to the 3 pulses with the old turbo configuration. The net result is that the torque now comes in 200 revs lower in the N55 than in the previous-generation N54 (1200rpm) and extends further towards the redline. The N55 is mapped slightly differently to give a more performance-orientated and peaky characteristic in comparison to the flat-torque plateau and relaxed nature of the N54. I have to say the N55 engine seems really good - the brief drive I had in the new 535i (thanks to Anneka ) showed the engine had more top-end response than the normal N54, whilst losing none of the usual urge in the midrange. The fuel consumption of the 535i was very good too - it had done 150 miles when we got in it, and all of that mileage was test drives, and it still showed an average of 29mpg. It'll be a bugger to tune, but then I suppose BMW quite like that!
