How would they know about the mods, unless he left them on, and did clear the hidden codes.

I had way too much stuff on the car to take it off before going in plus i know the service advisor ... i'll see what Monday brings when they do the leak down test and go from there...won't let them go ahead with the head gasket just like that...most likely will talk to bimmersport to see....

I'm just curious if you ever installed the lightened pulley.
Did you?

op, i have stage3 mods and experience the same issue. but mine isn't just coldstart misfires, it will misfire under partial throttle boost as wel but only in cyl4-6. did you get any codes outside of the misfires?

in my case i got two o2 codes. 2cab and 2c7a or something along with the misfires. those are bank2 sensor1 heating probe codes, which from my understanding help control afr's. reinforcing my theory of why the misfires are isolated in cyl4-6 only. i didn't bother taking it to the dealer for your exact situation and i frankly dont trust them when it comes to my money.

you would think if it was the headgasket it would always run like crap and not just restarting a few times and then it works. i'm expecting my o2 sensor to arrive anyday now so i can install it and see what happens.

When my warranty ran out, my dealer bill me for diagnosis on hpfp, claimed that i no longer have warranty, hence i have to pay for that, especially with all the mods i have on my car.

after dignosis, my SA told me hpfp is indeed FINE when they ran pressure test and etc etc and they couldn't replicate the symptom.

the thing that got me mad was that he was going to charge me for hpfp if i want to replace it in the future. i told him hpfp IS warrantied by BMWNA until 120k miles or 10 years and he realized that i know my stuff and back down. but i still had to pay for the diagnosis... he said best way of doing about it is basically once my hpfp actually FAILS, then tow it in...

best of luck to you and hopefully it's not to much of a damage.

doesnt sound like a blown head gasket to me. I just blew mine on my turbo M3 over the winter. Just now starting to put the motor back together.

Has your coolant system been pressurized?? 1st thing I'd check, that and loss of coolant.

Can you answer those 2 questions?

ALSO, get your flipping car out of the dealership!!!! they will bend you over backwards.....no lube.

Blown head gasket on my car. You can see where the coolant was making its way into cyl 6 and then 5 pretty clearly. I had loss of coolant and coolant pressurization. Car ran fine though honestly, no smoke really.

The block after being prepped in car and copper orings installed.....ready for more boooooost!

and the new head gasket in place and then the head on

Dzenno, if you want to see what can be involved in a HG swap in an inline BMW 6 you can check my thread here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=152

progress pics go on for a few pages

Head gasket jobs usually run 1k-2k anywhere else. I would defiantly go some where else.

A head gasket leak shouldn't show up as water around spark plugs, if they mean the external part of the plug. Has the engine bay been washed with high-pressure water perhaps entering to some degree under the valve cover?

Should have told them to button up your car and you are taking it elsewhere when they starting telling you about a leakdown test. It is probably o2 sensors or something else, not a headgasket.

Haven't checked anything to do with coolant yet as there was no indication of overheating or loss of coolant (low coolant light never seen).

I've already left the car to them to do a leak down test so it's too late to back out at this point. I will though as them about coolant system pressurization test when I talk to them Monday to see if they maybe did it, doubt it as they'd need to ask first as I'd have to pay for it.

Great info, thanks..
