Your going to have to comb through the other three stage manifold thread.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=372973

Sorry I can't help any more. 2 members in there said they ran it without a tune, then in the original three stage thread from 2006 at least one member in there ran it without a tune as well.

Keep in mind that the ecu tuning is different for a stock 330 vs a stock 325 and thus the higher HP. The flash will put you at stock 330 or "tuned" 330

My rear rotor:
You have the same size as the 325 brakes.

Someone with a good eye would be able to tell, plus the roof strips for the roof attatchment is black on 325/28 according to my knowledge whereas body colored on premium models and front grill is all chrome, but heck those are verryyyyy small differences.

I wouldnt be able to tell until very thorough inspection, probably still wouldnt be able to and these things dont pass me easily.

You got every right to call it a 330, and hell with those who say otherwise

Nahh buddy. There a few differences between the 325 and the 330. A simple reflash to a 325 to a 330 will NOT make 330 HP.....at all. I would surprised it the 325 even started.

Yes our 325 ecu software is equipped with programming that controls the valves. They open and close normally yet the software is programmed for the 325 manifold and the amount of air that used to come in, hence the tune to adjust the combustion ratios.

Correct, there may be flat spots, but the tune fixes this.

Follow the link above.

More like the whole powerband suffers
Finally a solution.

330i does not have 330 hp. It's 254 bhp and 221 lb tq.

I'm confused....

You misunderstood. When he said the stock software is different, he was pertaining to the ability to use and function the DISA valves, hence the higher hp. Three stage manifold on 325 software equals 8 hp gain, with 330 software equals 330i territory.

Like he said, the tuned software (with manifold pf course) would put it at tuned 330i territory which is 265 or 275 horsepower depending on the tune.

Take it from me, this guy knows what hes doing, hes doing this mod too.

Wait, wait, wait, wait...so you guys are saying that putting a 330 intake manifold into a 325 and flashing the 325 with 330 software will give the 325 40 more HP and make it into a "330?" That's kinda hard to believe but after reading through the thread I guess it's true.

BTW, I don't think I've ever had to re-read a post so many times to make sure I didn't have any typos .

Youll be able to do this yourself after my DIY.

I dont think people understand where were going with this

To those who have been keeping up, who votes I change the title to 275 HORSEPOWER IN A 325i or ADD 60HP TO YOUR 325I

Maybe that will explain a little more.

Well I already have a 330 but it's an XI. As much as I love the AWD, it's about 200lbs heavier than a non-XI.

Hey hey, come on man it not that bad, thats a price were willing to pay for power directed to all four wheels, and the fun it brings i.e. driving on beaches in FL.

We have different animals but that makes our cars more exclusive , well im about to sell my 330xi but i still got the 325xi which will be a 330 soon.

After reading many instances of oversteering and loss of traction with rwd e90s, although verrry fun when you know how to control it, this make my car all the better with awd always there.

Plus, who said you couldnt drift/oversteer an xi (try it sometime)

I think I will call this 329i, better than 28 yet slightly lesser than 330.

Or stick with 325 with three stage intake manifold conversion and software, whichever is shorter

329i sounds good lol maybe we should just put that onto the car after getting it done.. jk..
So can I just to make sure one more time (sry..) after getting the manifold it will gain about 8hp and I can still keep the powerbox? And then after the 330 software it will be getting about the same as the 330 and if I get a tuned software then it will be like making 260-270hp? And with the 330 software or the tuned ones the powerbox will not work right?

just want to make sure I didnt get it wrong..

Correct. When you do the swap you can keep the power box, but once you get the 330i tune you shouldn't use the powerbox anymore, because it will be worthless and will just interfere with the tune, the tune will cover everything the powerbox does and more!!!

I have to chime in here. I see a lot of people haven't seen the other thread on this. I have 325i with the tune and manifold. It works but the tune is off slightly. I'm about 10-15 hp short of stock 330i territory but the exhaust is more restrictive and my car just cleared 128k miles. I've been trying really hard to get the software update Powerchip made for me buts it's been rather difficult. They keep saying they're busy, but all they have to do is email a file to a vendor in Los Gatos. But anyway, here's a link to my thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=372973

Oh and by the way, I had the tune loaded before the manifold was installed. It ran fine. It just had some weird gaps in power.
