I'd happily give the keys to a senior member on here to test my car...I'm worried that I'm not getting my 306bhp BMW promised me....(I think, I'm paranoid....)

Anyone with a reliable "ass" dyno?

So you should be. I liked mine tbh and had it re-mapped, great all rounder of a car. I sold it for a Cayman S as I just fell in love with the 'fun' factor and that flat six noise and no longer needed a diesel as my annual mileage dropped.

Err Kevin, care to clarify on 'senior member' ahem.

My bottie is very reliable. Found the almost grip limits of the S5 yesterday on my fav test track road..........must have thought I was back in the Porsche T.

So, by just driving my car Helen and Carlos, would be able to give me a fairly accurate figure for my current BHP?....

hmmmm...should I trust their ass dyno or take it to a real dyno....

will need to think about this one....

Are you for real? To get an accurate reading you will need to get it tested on a proper dyno.

No one's "ass dyno" is going to be able to give you a figure. If they do, they're making it up!

I was saying it tongue in cheek (pun in there), and I would have thought Kevin was too.

Of course the only way to get an accurate figure is get it on a dyno.

My ass dyno is fairly accurate! lol...when my mate had his Type R tuned, we went for a drive....before he gave me the figures, I said to him...it feels like 170-180 bhp....just like the golf V5 of my cousin.....

and guess what!...I was right!!!....170bhp he said afterwards!....

and obviously to get a precise figure, it has to be the dyno...but just wondered if someone could detect if I had less than 306bhp just by driving it....

A Manual, re-mapped 330d and the 335d wouldn't know which way it went. of Course, if the 335d was re-mapped - you'd be fooked. LOL!

Are you getting loads of power eventually and it's just laggy or is it because the combination of the auto box and seamless power makes it 'feel' slow?

If it's the former then maybe one of the actuators on the turbo needs replacing - just had 2 replaced on mine as the turbo wasn't kicking in at low revs and it was S-L-O-W and the gearbox couldn't make it's mind up until it kicked down a couple of gears and the car shot off down the road. All sorted now.

If you still think it's slow in DS mode using the paddles with DSC turned off then there's definitely something wrong!

id strongly recommend remapping it. Im waiting for mine to run out of warranty before doing it but they are godly quick.

To the OP; if you dont want to/cant go on a dyno, id suggest doing some 0-60, 0-100, 50 - 75 etc.. tests, then you can compare with the figures that people have done and see its right or not.

I agree with what I think Carl is trying to say...

Kevin is looking for someone to validate whether or not his 335d FEELS ok.

And if Kevin wants and next time I see him, I will be happy to have a go and let him know

LOL - as an S2000 driver I wouldnt dream of it.
But you need at least two tailpipes on that model to be fun

I recently chopped my modified S2000 and R26 for a family BMW.
To me it also feels slow but its just so much more accomplished and efficient.
The numbers are broadly similar and this coupe won't quite corner like a well sorted S2000 either, but point to point its quicker.
It just doesn't 'feel' like it is, and when you look at the dials on a familiar road the BMW is even more impressive.

Maybe dis-easals are just not for you?
I run diesels for CCs and they are not what I would buy for my own pleasure.

In reference, even though the 335D is quick , i find it quite heavy feeling, however a re-map sorts this out. I got rid of my last one as, although it was very fast (circa 350BHP), I found it boring. However this time round I will be buying a toy to go with it, and the 335 will make a great, fast, comfortable way of ferrying the family around!
