Not on a boosted car. The N54 has two sources of vacuum, one is the intake manifold while idling or off boost, and the other is the chain driven vacuum pump. Since the intake manifold is not always under vacuum, the brake booster, wastegate soleniods, and other devices that always need a source of vacuum have to use a line to the vacuum pump.

The ONLY device in the N54 that has a line off of the intake manifold directly is the diverter valves, and these are the ONLY lines you should be using to suck in Seafoam...otherwise you are sucking it into the vacuum pump, which I'm betting won't have good consequences.

Do some searches, and you will find other threads that have explanations of what to do.

yeah, I should have read that one thread further, which I just finished reading. I am almost at 50K miles and warranty will expire soon. So, I will get ready to do a cleaning soon. Also, have my wifes X5 to do as well.

I just finally got mine back-about a month as well. Initially I had a fuel system cleaning service done-essentially like a Seafoam, but when I got it back, the stumbling was back and I ended up getting SES light on the highway and it was stumbling really bad.

They did a barrage of tests-swapping coils, testing the LPFP, swapping injectors, etc. Then they did the all out carbon buildup cleaning like what you had and they were still getting misfires and it was all pointing to cyl #2.

After more research, they pulled the head and the buildup was really bad on the bottoms of the valves and they were sticking where cyl 2 is. Dealership had to send the head out to get fully cleaned and refinished.

Car runs GREAT and it feels brand new-I never realized how much hp was lost. Thank God for my extended warranty!

Big props to Northwest BMW in Owings Mills-to Mark Johnson my SA and to Marshall Fallon, the foreman and his crew of techs!!!!

Awesome you mention this,
BSH just got done using my car for testing, stay tunned for a true cold air intake under a 1000, methanol injection kit, charge pipe, diverter valves, and a really sweet cooling system.(more on that later)
