jpsimon,

i thought i was alone!!! i have the same issue... sometimes when i cruise at 100km/h on high way or when i was waiting on traffic light, procede is getting a flow signal, meth flow blinker lights are on.... i don't know how to solve the problem. I had cleaned my injector, tank and replace my labonte failsafe with a new one.... the problem still exists!! i really need some help....

labonte failsafe #3 seized up Dan at labonte suggested that I run a 70/30 mix, I told him that's not what I bought the unit for.

Apparently he switched manufacturers, or the manufacturer cheaped out. Either way, all I want is a box that won't crap out on 100% meth and I refuse to run meth without one. 15psi isn't enough for me!

btw - I missed e90 all day

What do you mean they switched manufacturer? Does the new unit look different?

mines at labonte now getting replaced. I talked to them yesterday and they said they were waiting for a new shipment of them hopefully arriving to them today. I hope this is an improved unit as it seems this is becoming a common problem.

from the picture in their instructions, yes. but all three flow sensors that I owned looked identical.

one in the instructions has wording for inlet and outlet, and the connector is gray. the units I actually had showed no wording for inlet/outlet and the connector was orange.

Thats the same one that I have with the orange connectors....I am wondering if the flow wheel is the problem...

The unit is a problem period. Like I said, i paid for a failsafe, not a box that does nothing. I will try one last time by calling on friday, either I get a box that works, or I want my money back.

I can see how you are annoyed but there are so many of us with the same failsafe unit that have not encountered as much problems as you have....It is unbelievable that you and themyst have gone through so many units already that were defective...

It didn't short, the wheel siezed again. Dan doesnt have much to say. He says he is investigating it with the manufacture. This friday will be 3 weeks. If its not done, I want my money back.

My first one, went up in smoke and actually shorted.
The 2nd one, well read post one. Siezed
The 3rd one lasted 8 hours and Siezed

JPslicks 1st one shorted
2nd one last maybe 4-5 days before it siezed.

If I had to change mine out, I would be pissed off because my location is not easily accessible...thank god and hopefully it continues to work flawlessly..I hope you get some answers and a new unit..

WOW WTF I bought the labonte because I hated the coolingmist flowsensor that it swell up after 70/30 mix and that's the only reason I purchased it, I'm very f.ucking dissapointed right now >:O I could've just kept the CM, well it is infact still installed on my car, since I havn't installed the labonte one , at times like these I just want to demod the car, this shit gets me very frustrated.

so install it, if it fails, labonte will send you a new one. or call labonte and see if they will accept a return since its not installed if you want to listen to what we say.

Well since the cat is out of the bag..

My first one blew up from minute one.

Got a new one, it broke within a minutes worth of WOT.

Still waiting for a resolution.

There is clearly an internal change in the units for the amount of failures in such a short period of time.

As the winter approaches I wont be driving my car much at all.... but its getting a little ridiculous. I had a completely problem free car all year until the install of the failsafe.

They must have definitely changed over to another manufacturer and the new parts are either defective or cheap...I have a labonte failsafe from about a year ago and it seems to be working as advertised, so I am thinking the new ones are being made with inferior parts compared to the older units out there..

I was seconds away from buying a Labonte unit...

Everyone knows that I have needed a flow sensor for some time. I didn't go with the labonte but I wanted to because of the meth compatiblity. I was talking to another vendor and they had mentioned that 100% meth running through anyones flow sensor will burn up the internals. You can soak any manufactures flow sensor in meth and its fine..... run meth through it @richer than 70/30 and its going to happen. I read that Denatured Alcohol will help maintain the octane we are used to at 90/10 but the temp of the fluid itself will be lower as it rushes past the wheel. So 70 Meth/ 30 Denatured Alcohol and you can run 19 psi again. It should work for any manufactures flow sensor.

Good luck.... I will be installing my new meth controller and failsafe this weekend. Denatured alcohol is on the to get list!
