The buttons were relocated to make room for the 4th digit and allow the same circuit board to be used for all variations of 135,335,rhd,lhd meaning that we could keep costs down and allow for all the extra features without raising the price! The old gauge had 8 different versions of the circuit boards for just 335,135,rhd,lhd,bar,psi ! This is much better |

I would personally prefer getting everything brand new. Would also like to return the old product after the new product has been installed since I don't know where I placed the OEM vent.

Also, how are you planning to do the CAN connection ? Can you give some details on this ? The OBD-2 connector doesn't seem like a good idea, if you ask me. That connector should be available for other uses with the gauge still in place... |

Yes!! Stupid question, but would I be able to take advantage of all the new features even though I'm on a flash?

I would say even more with a flash. Most values are taken off the CANbus (you can also add your own sensors). With piggybacks, some sensor values that get to the DME are altered so you won't see the real values (that's the way the piggybacks work).

Ok, how does this all integrate into the piggybacks. I know this is a stupid question but can anyone explain how this stuff hooks up.
I know its a noob question but hopefully someone can shed some light on the topic. |

If you use it along with a tune that happens to be a piggyback that is up to you We try not to make our products rely heavily on other companies products... as that would limit our market. However, we do try and make sure that everyone can use it, regardless of which tune or mods they have. We plan to sell this to ALL e90/92/93 users... even non-turbo guys. The performance timers and the BMW code/read clear alone makes it worth the money. -Rick |

As for wiring, connections, etc... we are still working out the details but the plan is to have a few options...
- An "easy" install that is just basically plugging in a low profile right angle connector into the obd2 port (it doesn't stick out)... that's it... done. - A more detailed version that has a plug and play harness that intercepts wires behind the dash. The problem is becoming that throughout the years the car has changed a bunch as far as wiring goes, so we are trying to make this as universal as possible without requiring a bunch of wire taps. |

So it seems that plugging into the OBD port would be the easiest way all around if that was feasible. Thanks for the quick response. |
