Bottom line is I am fairly comfortable with this, each to their own I guess

This situation, is a situation your car is more likely to get nicked. Slip in and slip away!

Yes, I must admit that I am now re-thinking the process. Its one of those things, you think you are fine and nothing should go wrong - until it does. Prevention better than cure I guess

Yeah mate deffo. I Don't think its worth the risk. I'd hate to hear its happened again on this forum.

Just jump in 5 mins and sit in with doors locked of course, bowlack warmers on and let it de-mist de-ice whatever etc.

That is in the sticks

A guy at work from Oldham had his door kicked in for his company 520d a year or two ago.

Manchester's rife with it, especially Didsbury / Chorlton etc where we live. Even the 2009 armed robbery at No.13 wasn't reported, we only found out because our street's neighbourhood watch coordinator emailed us all after it happened.

A friend of ours from London is a copper in SO19 anti terrorist branch, he used to be in the serious crime unit working areas like Whitechapel (which is regarded as the most grim & violent parts of London), he couldn't believe what was happening with violent car thefts in Manchester, by kids, not organised criminals, as they'd so rarely seen anything like that in London.

I have a scar on my chest from being slashed (i.e. cr4p attempt at stabbing) with a screwdriver.

I can confirm that it smarts something rotten.

That was in Cornwall too!

Do all of you have secure parking? Essential in or anywhere near a city if you have anything even vaguely desirable.

My secure parking consists of my wives renault clio blocking my car in on the drive.

Carlos - a lockable garage.

In the Docklands, it was underground parking via an electric gate and CCTV everywhere. Seemed to work well.

Are you having a laugh? 90% of the established city housing stock in the uk doesn't even have a drive!

Talk about 'let them eat cake'.

There's not a house on our street worth under 450k and none has more than a drive for one car, no garages. We park on the street like everyone else.

A garage in docklands?? that must be half a million on its own!

You can park seven cars here. If they are proper 4wd then at least double that. Makes a change from spending half an hour finding a space then wondering if the car will still be there in the morning. Never again. I hope.

I do this all the time. Surley if it was stolen, I'd have both keys, so the car was stolen with no keys? Insurance payout?. Tricky one eh.....
