the 80 bucks might be different at your dealer. it's nothing that is in the official price list. the dealer just wanted compensation for his work.
actually they are really not required to update your car unless you really have a problem. unfortunately the updating process is a lengthy one - several hours, I heard it can take up to eight. so that's why they usually are not very happy if you come up and tell'em you want an upgrade just for the sake of it. |

If my car has a march/april production date, will it come with the new version? How will I be able to tell when the car comes?
Thanks

Guys, it's not some top secret info and I've already shared in an
older thread but here it is again. Go to navigation. Select a destination and initiate guidance. As you all know, on the right small screen you should be getting the arrow direction (you know the one that pops on telling you when and where to turn etc). Now go to the small screen and select the map view. And presto we have a bug. No more arrow directions. The thread when I first found out about the problem: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36523 The TSB for it which affects everyone with CIP V19.1 or higher: http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/...p/B846106g.htm It appears the fix is indeed in V25 of Progman but I'll wait a bit for it for the software to mature cuase I just had an update a couple of weeks ago to the latest version. Good luck. |

Thank my very much, Shadowcoder. The orirginal OP said the new version is supposed to be out in "March/April", but your link applies it is already available, correct? reason I ask is I am taking the car to the shop this week anyway (get them to fix their cosmetic problem that you already helped me with), so would love to get this done at the same time.
I wasn't able to reproduce this, but I don't quite think I am understanding your directions (arrow display wasn't the default on right, but I changed it to that, then turned it back to map facing north, not sure what was supposed to happen - but I do know I couldn't get back to the left screen unless I hit the menu buttton). But in any case, I was thinking of just printing this out, and saying "I don't want this problem, please fix per this SIB". Given my 330 has an 8/22/06 production build date, I would assume I am running version 19.1 or higher, so it is applicable to me and then they should oblige my request, right? thanks again, you have been very helpful.

you MUST select a destination that say you want to go to and start guidance to it. When you have to make turns etc the arrow display/directions appear on the right screen. Now click to the right to activate the small screen, push down and select the map from the display options. Once you do that, you will see that you don't get the arrow display/directions anymore while the nav is giving you guidance for your destination, although you should have. This is the problem the TSB refers to and EVERYONE with V19.1 and above has it. The thing I don't know is if the US dealers already have V25 or if they've started installing/upgrading cars with it (and yes you are definitely running a version higher version than 19.1 given your production date so this TSB applies to you). The usefulness of the map display on the right is that you can have your entertainment selected on the left and doing guidance at the same time. So the map on the right becomes important and without the arrow display/directions popping up, you can lose your exits/tunrs. That's how I discovered it - lost my exit twice on I-55 while in Chicago. |

Anyone know if this update enables the Nav to tell you which side of the street your destination is on when reached. The Nav on my Z4 does this. For whatever reason this feature was deleted with the new Nav system. Drives me nuts since many commercial addresses don't have visible street numbers.

Hopefully I will be picking up my 335 late this week/early next, will I have v25 already installed?

^^ No, the arrow is supposed to "pop" as you near the turn, no matter what you have on the right side. It doesn't work if you have a map over there, though. Apparently, it did work for v20 and earlier.

This thread has turned into a must read. What started as us fishing for some "bug" to use just to get BMW to give us the new SW version has turned into many of us discovering a feature we didn't know existed BECAUSE of the bug.
Our E60 must have had this problem as well. So when using the guidance in the Nav, we always put map on left, arrow directions on right. Now, to shadowcoder's point, we can go back to putting stereo on left, map on right, and still get arrows at times of need. Cool! AND we can get the new SW loaded, which was the original intent of the the thread! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. |

UPDATE: I called my BMW dealership today, told them that my pop-up arrow display feature doesn't work, i understand V25 will correct that, can I schedule an appointment to get this resolved.
He told me they are expecting the new software some time next week, and to just call back, verify it is in and schedule an appointment for uploading. so: a) at least this dealership doesn't have it yet, but provided an approximate date (next week) b) quoting the "pop up arrow" bug (and I also quoted the SIB), was enough for them to say "as soon as we receive the new SW, come on down and we will load it in your car". Excellent! Shadowcoder you rock. |

I just dropped my car off at the dealer this afternoon for an oil change and they had the V25 update on the list to perform as well. I didn't ask for it but I would like to have the lag in I-Drive improved. Hope it is uneventful !!

Does anyone know if the Progman 25 will enable you the go back to full screen when you close the assistance window?
My entertainment screen, climate control, and phone menus used to be be full screen, but now, I have the assistance window taking up the right 1/3. It used to be that the assistance window only took up my nav menu, and to be honest, when I first picked up the car, it didn't do that either. I can't remove it, no matter what I do, and it only changed after 14 months of driving. |
