The cat delete sounds like an inexpensive mod that should make the stock exhaust sound a little better. I would get a production exhaust but it feels like a waste not using those autospeeds. Plus no one else will have them!

Like charlie said you get a power inc. But I didnt get anything noticable until I changed my maps on the procede.

I did a few test runs with a few friends. Some on the board. I use to be dead even with my friends bolt on evo until 110 mph. But now I pull at 80 mph.

Charlie can even attest to the power gain on my car also.

But ill most likey get rid of the piping once someone comes out with an e90 exhaust.
the man is telling the truth, it was my Evo IX he ran.

before we were dead even up till 110mph, aka. he'd pull after i put my car into 5th gear.

now once i put my car into 4th gear at around 80mph he'd start to walk. there is definitely an increase in power.

from a 2nd gear roll it used to be that neither of us gets a jump, but now he gets a jump by maybe a fender, and i hold him there till the end of my 3rd gear.

I'm having Royal Muffler in chatsworth make me a custom exhaust from the downpipes back. They gave me a fair price for all t-304 stainless, 2 resonators, an x-pipe, and they will be using my Autospeed Mufflers from my Audi S4 (4.2 V-8). It sounded really good and deep but not too loud on my S4 so im hoping that it sound good on this car but we will see...
Great place. My friend Dan went there for his custom exhaust on his Evo. Now it looks stocker than stock.

LOL..stock.

That was the whole purpose of him getting rid of his previous exhaust. He's going to get JDM tail lights and a lancer trunk now for the complete stock look.

Might be around $1067-$1195

The M Shop will be selling them as soon as they available. Remember this exhaust go after the secondary cats. Cutting is required and Borla provides clamps.

No choice, but to go that route. With used Evos being in the $20,000 range now, a lot of stupid kids are buying it and messing it up for everyone.

When you guys are scared of getting pulled over for a tint ticket or no front plate, we were scared about getting sent to the ref and smog check, heh.

And the M shop...the final Borla catback is still going to require cutting right? And not a true bolt on? We still need sound clips and dynos too!

Unfortunately yes. Here's a drawing of the exhaust.

I spoke to a Borla rep and he told me that it will not be bolt on because Borla will not remove any cats.

M shop-do you know if that catback is legal? I'm asking because, say, what happens if you get it, get pulled over and have to go to the ref station to get it checked out...how would you go back to stock catback since you cut it off?

How does it sound? I was going to get the same mufflers, and weld an X-pipe into the pipes where the coupe usually puts them (I have a sedan and we dont get an X-pipe). Droning doesnt bother me, I just turn up the radio a little more.

A little rasp doesnt bother me either. Nothing sounds nicer than a 6 cylinder turbo at full tilt.

Well..the only one that sounded better was a flat sixer, aircooled with a big turbo. And that car is forsale now for a very good price, making me hate the fact I picked up the bimmer.

Technically speaking it is illegal to modify the exhaust even though it meets the states(CA)/city decibel limit.

The only legal exhausts in CA are the ones that have CARB approval on them.

I had a Borla catback on my old car and it came with a paper saying that it was legal in all 50 states.

Anywho, please keep us posted on the situation. Since you're a local shop, I may be interested in going to you guys for a catback.

If Borla includes that paper then that's a big plus. Just keep it in your glovebox just incase the cop questions you about the exhaust.

Not sure if Dinan will come out with an exhaust but most of Dinan's products are 50 state/CARB legal.

I will keep you and everyone else informed of the exhaust and perhaps try to start a group buy.

Funny thing is that the Borla exhaust on my old car was so quiet, no cops ever stopped me. That thing was dead silent after 3k RPM.

Give me a head ups Jon. I'm ready to be the guinea pig for dyno and sound clips if I can get an extra deal when the time comes, hehe.
