I didnt read through all the comments but if you dont need a back seat you should get a Viper. I just sold my 335 2 weeks ago and got a 05 Viper with 13k miles and the thing is a BEAST and there isnt much on them to go wrong.

wow 4 pumps... even though the hpfps are problem prone, do you think it had to do with your heavy mods?

How many miles...i really wonder reading the forum for years how many really are having problems as a percentage ..these things make me want to sell and then im up against the wall ..the cost to performance to gas milage to elegance there is nothing else out there imho and that is unfortunate ..
That said I did a euro pickup read into it all you want cause 36000miles and 4 yrs not a single thing and never a ecu update...
The Big problem is if u sell what could possibly replace i like the mustang comercial and that was great when i was 25 and not to say I wouldnt enjoy it now but Fords are cheap period...as much as I luv hearing one drive by I wouldnt own one now.
Sorry for your troubles.

As far as whether or not to do the recall, those in California do not have much leeway. Since it's an emissions recall the VIN is flagged with the CA DMV and to register it the next time you will need the certificate of compliance. I tried to to not have them do it, yes they got it wrong not the HPFP but injector issues, broken fuel rail bolt, threw SES within a mile of dealership etc etc etc; but they informed me I had no choice as my Vin has been flagged and I had until the next registration period to do the recall. My new pump is a 446 pump and only a stray odd idle right from roll off no throttle (I'm step) no long cranks or codes I know of yet but not confident.

Similar situation. My car was flawless to 40k miles. Between 40 and 49k, I had 3 fuel pumps and one VANOS unit fail. The vanos unit happened last and was the final straw. I took the car down the street and traded it in on a Z06 I had been eyeing. Love the Z06, the 335 was boring even modded. That's been two years ago now and I couldn't be happier.

I have had one fuel pump, (one prior to me owning it), two turbo solenoids, one injector, two tubos and front pads replaced and like Brey I still really enjoy the car. Clap has had his car longer and I can sympathize with the annoyance factor.

I hope I don't get there anytime soon. (fingers crossed)

Haha, are you talking about the BMW here? My car grinds the 1-2 shift quite often. Does it first thing in the morning when it's cold out and does it when I rev it high and try to shift fast. I don't recall ever hitting the 1-2 shift when I'm accelerating hard.

Plugged in the ap, sure as shit p2aaf code. So the 4th pump in my car is going. This might be my last straw. I already took legal action against bmw and won a large chunk of cash about a year ago. I am thinking of taking legal action again and getting out of this car and into a gt500 or the new 5.0.

The tranny issue is overblown in the 5.0. That Getrag MT-82 is similar to most of the Getrag installed in BMWs. The Mustang guys are just used to how the old reliable Tremec shifts. Compared to the Tremec the Getrag is very notch-y. And the Mustang guys, instead of easing into the gears, will try and slam it in despite grinding (a Tremec will easily handle that).

End result is the synchro gets eaten up because they don't know any other way to shift it. Had they gotten used to how notch-y the Getrag in most BMWs shift, no body will be complaining about it.

I don't want to deal with it until the fix it. People are blowing trannys at like 2k miles bone stock. Clutch sticks to the floor, fly wheel bolts back up, tranny whines, gear lock out. Sounds like a pos design to me. If they fix it, Ill be game, untill then ill wait

What are we going to do with our 335i when our waranty runs out?
I had the car one year, and they have replaced the turbos twice now, because of the waist gate issue.

its a cpo and i have 2 years left now...

Sorry to hear about your 135i fucking up so many times... I guess I'm one of the lucky ones still on my original pump @ 26k miles (*knocks on wood*). Have you looked into the Audi S4?
