Wanted to resurrect this thread because I am now getting a single clunk when hitting a one sided bump in the front like turning into a driveway when one front wheel compresses first. I have the SP perch, no top seat rubber installed (per SP rec), bilstein HD, new meyle hd endlink, oem C4 non-sport springs. About 2.5K miles since the install and it just started making this noise.

The rubber not being used is a direct instruction from Supersport Germany. No noise can be made by the removal of the rubber. The spring is under tension at all times and cannot move up and down therefore no noise can be created by the absence of the rubber.

Thanks for the response. Got it up on stands today and everything with the springs and perches is fine, they are still seated as they were originally and with all weight hanging the springs are still tight between the lower and upper perches. Don't think that is it. Banging around down there with a rubber mallet nothing seems wrong everything is tight. There may be the slighted bit of ability to wiggle the upper control arms, both sides the same, but since they have rubber bushings that has to be normal. None of the bushings show any signs of leaking. Shocks still look brand new. I am at a loss. I may just have to wait till it gets alot worse to be able to tell something is loose or worn out. Not easy for us BMW OCD types!

FIXED! I figured out my issue, it was exactly how supreme power said it was! The passenger side fsb end link where it attaches to the strut was loose. It was snug but when I tried to tighten it, it would just turn, I ended up taking an impact gun to it which tightened it enough to where I could then take a ratchet/socket to it and tighten it without it turning. Clunk is gone and car handles better now that I am getting the full value out of the front sway bar!
Thanks Eric! |

Just got mine installed yesterday, we did not use the rubber isolators - from my short drive home I have no problems to report, and these gave the perfect finishing touch to my front end drop. Happy customer

hey, just a thought but have you guys checked your end links... i was having clunking noises in the back before and even after changing out my suspension and the bushings. i then suspected the endlinks and changed them out since they were old.. my noise was gone.. maybe check your front endlinks.

I installed mine last weekend and the passenger side clunks every now and then. Has to be a good size bump for it to happen. Everything is tight. I reused the rubber isolators. Was I not supposed to? The upper isolator doesn't fit too well on these new perches.
I didn't reuse that thin paper gasket because they were ripped.

Zero clunks still. After reinstalling my endlinks I found I needed to retorque them a few weeks later after they began to cluck. No issues since.
I am a happy lowering perch customer! |

I have new yellow koni, new performance yellow stings, new strut mounts and new hd mayle links, no rubber insulator and clunks when turning the steering wheel left of right, both sides, when car is stationary. Very load clunk Sounds line the spring snaps in and out the perch.
The spring is snugged in between the perch wall and the welded arch, not ever it like in the photos bellow. Just for reference, not my car. |
