But for certain cars independent shops just will not work, they have obd2 that wont read bmw keys lol...there are pros and cons to both.

the self employeed guy has alot more to worry about the a service manager at a dealership, self employed means you could have no job tomorrow, downturn in the economy, how to pay bills, keep the lights on etc. All the Service Manager has to worry about is getting in his demo and driving to the dealership.

I cannot bring my other car to an independent because it is a lease, but i walk into a dealership have honda tell me that do not do recalls on a saturday...NOT only that but my trunk lock does not work and the car starts revving to 6500 @ 55 mph and the service managers looks at me and tells me he cannot accomidate me on a saturday ( they only have parts changers so to say on a saturday) or at the time i brought it there on a tuesday to even look at the car.... WTF is that. Oh and they WILL NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES give you a rental even with a factory recall letter in hand...

You go to BMW, you get the car looked at there, they might not be able to fit you in then, but they make an attempt to look at the car and provide you with a rental. Its funny people are willing to buy a BMW but bitch about the maintenance.

smh.
My car goes in for a round of plugs and oil change prior to factory maintenance schedule. Makes no sense not to do that. That is when I use my "mom and pop" guy. My other BMW is just out of warranty and I go there for all it's repairs.

I have also seen where a downturn has caused my previous Acura dealer to challenge some obvious extended warranty work. They did fix the problems, but not without emails and calls to the Dealership owner.

As far as Honda goes, again, as is always said here, you get what you pay for. With BMW you put all your repair money up front, so they had better move you through the system quickly, otherwise they lose business.

I trust your "bitch" comment was not concerning me.

By the way, welcome to E90!

LOL! You've got to be joking, this guy looks like his name is either Skeeter or Cooter and walked off the set of Deliverance. Not going there.

- Never said going to your own mechanic was a bad thing that was not what was previously brought up.

I have also seen where a downturn has caused my previous Acura dealer to challenge some obvious extended warranty work. They did fix the problems, but not without emails and calls to the Dealership owner.

Welll like you said...."you get what you pay for"

- How do you put all your repair money up front?
I trust your "bitch" comment was not concerning me.

I think i generalized the bitch comment I dont believe i put your name next to it...so that was concerning bmw drivers as a whole.

By the way, welcome to E90!

Thanks :-)
