When I was in Qatar in the summer, the Army and Marines would come there for R&R...and they would want to go back to their shithole in Iraq it was so hot in Qatar....that place is just rediculous....
I'm quite sure that the only reason most of those people stay is because they have so much damn money from all the natural gas and oil.....oh and Al Jazeer...

If you visit old houses (before AC), you see how the houses were built differently to funnel in air from above and brings it down as cooler air.

I don't know about the getting used to it part. I spent whole summers over there and I never got used to it in the least. And I lived in Arizona for 5 years and never got used to it. And I don't think the people over there or in Arizona ever get used to it either....if you drive around during the day in the summer...you won't see too many people out....they all try to stay indoors.
But I'll take a heat climate over a cold climate any day....cause you're right...you only have to deal with the heat for a few months and then the rest of the year is nice....whereas in a cold climate it's the other way around....AND...in a heat climate....at least it cools down at night somewhat (most of the time).....at least enough to bare it. Whereas in a cold climate....it's even COLDER AT NIGHT!! And last and most importantly......there's more women living in heat climates...wearing less clothes....

True story, summer after my Freshman year in High School, I biked from Parker, AZ through the desert to Twentynine Palms (via CA State Route 62 I believe it is)...shit was unreal. But so cool.
