Yes, I'm afraid it is. I bought the car during the first week of September last year. By the end of the second week, the CEL was on all the time. By the beginning of November I had a new fuel pump.

Now I'm waiting for the calipers to be replaced, to stop the squeaky wheels at speeds up to 20mph.

Patiently waiting....

....for my fuel pump to fail and my non existant oil cooler to cause my engine to overheat and explode!!!!!!!

08/06 build, 8100 miles, daily driver and haven't had a bit of problem since 10/06. Maybe the Gods are having pity on me since they figure I have suffered enough (3 ex wives).

I got my car back 04/25

My car went into the shop on March 13th. 5k miles. Got it back 04/25. BMWNA is giving me 3 months of payments ($700 /mo) if I agree not to sue them. Is it a fair deal??

yes thats a good deal.... as long as your only bound to this instance.... and down the road when the pump breaks again you not bound to the first contract.

All these failures tend to prod the question, how much testing did BMW honestly do prior to releasing these cars, and secondly it seems apparent that instead of sending out a redesigned fuel pump they chose instead to deplete whatever stores they may have in stock in an attempt to allay customer frustration but not address the long term solution. I went through teething problems with my first model year 323ci, remember those falling weatherstrips, BMW kept on replacing them with the same defective unit that inevitably failed AGAIN, then my transmission refused to select reverse, a slew of people had suspension issues, and the list goes on and on. Unfortunately these issues are not solely with the BMW brand, I decided to jump ship and bought a first year Saab Sports Sedan and at this point it would be far easier to say what didn't break than what did. It is apparent that these companies do not do their due diligence when testing their products, I think mainly b/c of how fast the "it" technology becomes obsolete so the window for the "coolness" factor is uncomfortably small. This post may be a bit long winded but I for one have inevitably delayed my e93 purchase until these issues are rectified because I would hate to have to go through the dealership dance all over again and to add insult to injury the much maligned South Motors is the closest dealer to me by some measure.

So glad to still have the E90 330! I think I will wait until all the bugs are almost fixed before I jump to a new bimmer. Good luck!
