The owner, who shall remain nameless, left the car up on stands and ordered some MS downpipes.

The PLM's rattled and had uneven flanges for the T clamps. I had to run a T-clamp off a ford F-250 in order to get it to seal.

Soo... yeah.
I know!! I saw the pics that you posted and some others. My reaction was damn those welds are horrible. Plus the dent and the design looked funky.

Im not sure exactly what your describing, but you can move the midpipes forward to mate up with the DPs.

I just emailed RL and they said the DPs are 2.5" to 2.5"; no taper in other words. I honestly do not like that, so it looks I'm going with Mach Schnells now. Kinda sucks since I didn't want to pay the extra 400, also do anybody know what happened to VK Motorwerks??

Wow....sounds like bunch of you having issues with the RL's I guess my build batch was one of the good ones...mines went right on, PERFECT fit, I was also kinda let down by the looks of the welding and therefore I had them coated, on the car now for close to 2 months, sound is intoxicating and the pull is downright amazing. Plus you can't beat the price

Raceland, eBay, VK, its all the same 2.5" design, and more than likely the same mfg.

Hey Andrew my Installer told me that he installed a set of AR's
On another 35i and that yours looked much much better than my RL, wish I had seen them in person, maybe I will be able to try them in the future.
He vouch though that the ARs was the best looking/flush install DP he has installed so far.

Props for a great Product.

I can agree with that the Ar's look much better than the Raceland's DP. Also, the AR's are more desirable in the quality department.

Garage List
2007 BMW  [7.00]
this raceland discussion is been going on too long.

for people who like to spend their money on quality parts then get your UR, AR, MS (600+)

For those who rather spend less money on basically a smaller downpipe(2.5 or 3" kinda), of a lesser quality, then get VK, Raceland, Ebay, PLM.

there has been number of cases where they DO and DO NOT fit. this argument can go on for years, but I see there are people out there who deliberately take their time out of their day to bad mouth other companies products. which is stupid.

No one can see the downpipe on the road, only hear them. There is a clear benefit of upgrading your stock downpipes; either way you go. 200-300 dollars is NOT a bad price. and hard to look over.

but if it fits with no problem, WHERE IS THE PROBLEM?

It seems the consensus is:

1st place: AR Design 3"
2nd place: Either AA or Macht Schnell 3"
