I would track down an independant shop that has access to software and the USB controller, or head down to a US dealership and see if you can bribe the service guys- by the sounds of it, it should literally take 5 minutes.

Good Luck.

Perfect timing.... I actually just booked an appointment with Cross Avenue Auto near where I live to see if they can do anything. I will be posting photos if they are successful.....

to my knowledge no. e90's always have the drl's and only e92's have the angels as drl's. its a totally different setup with bulbs and such. can anyone with a 2007 e90 confirm?
cool, if you could find out if they can do it to a 6 series for sure without any problems, you can put me down on the list aswell.

PM me with your contact info so the shop can choose if they will contact you..... There were some concerns expressed by members so I am just adjusting the contact model.

[QUOTE=spacedogg;1035701]Ok I talked to the shop. If we can get 4 people or more together, then the shop will do it for $40. They are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm.

They say even if you service your car and the dealership reflashes your ECU, your DRL should remain disabled. The DRL will only go back on if you have the lamp control module or the ignition switch replaced.

Please add your name to the list. If we do not have at least 4 people then...the regular price is $60.

So just to make sure everyone knows/understand what this mod does. All this mod does is it disables the daytime running lights on your E90. It will not do anything else. This is not a mod for E92s.

This mod will NOT turn on your angel eyes as your daytime running lights. You will still have to switch on your parking lights before your angel eyes turn on. But because your DRLs are now off, when you turn on your parking lights, only your angel eyes will come on.

I'm going e-mail the shop this morning and send them a link to this thread. We will then have to phone the shop ourselves and setup a time to meet with them. We will NOT be going all at the same time. That will be a logistics nightmare...everyone will setup their own time and go at their own leisure. The shop is open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. They will likely verify you are a E90post member (by asking for your sign in name) and then they will give you the discounted price.

Hopefully that explains everything clearly. I thought I had been clear in my previous posts, but I'm getting PMs which suggested otherwise...

E-mail sent to the shop this morning.

Quote:
Thanks for being patient with us and answering our questions re: disabling DRLs.

So far we have five forum members with E90s who would like to get their DRLs disabled. Another member has a 6 series and would like to know if he can get the same thing done on his vehicle as well. Here is the link from our thread:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57421

The login IDs of mmembers who have signed up to get this done so far are:

1) spacedogg
2) ShiraiwaRiku
3) ah gon
4) zigzagwhite
5) E90_M3-.^
6) B1N (assuming they can do this on a 6 series)

I have notified the members that you would be willing to disable the DRLs for $40 each and that we would each have to contact you seperately to arrange a time to come into the shop. Obviously this is not a lot of money/profit for your shop, but I hope this will be of benefit in raising the exposure of your shop amongst our members and that it will generate more business. We appreciate you providing us a discount.

I personally would like to schedule an appointment for anytime during the first week of July. My forum signup name is "spacedogg". I would also like you guys to install a modified CDV for me as well. Please let me know which day/time works for you guys for me to come in July.

Thanks very much.
PM sent to those who signed up on the list (and others I think who might be interested as well).

Thanks for getting all this interest in the drl delete. I have not done a new 6 before, but i should have no problem as i have done new 5's and 7's. We can give it a try. I read through the posts. All the members that had questions wheather we could activate alarms, activate xenon lights if the vehicle was not originally equipped ect. Basically everything they could want, we can do it. Feel free to pm our link to our website since alot of members are/were asking what kind of work we do...

I'm curious now, can they turn the bulb off (H7, i believe) and sill leave the Angel eyes activated as the DRL or is this a Canada specific deal where they would turn off you entire DRL function. People I know in Canada you can't turn the DRL off and this will help remedy that, but my question is can a dealer or someone w/ BMW software turn just the bulb (h7) off and allow the angel eyes to act as the DRL?

I ask, because I spoke to a shop locally who said they don't know for sure if they can do it, but he said he shouldn't have a problem. He's never had the question asked before and I'd hatye to go in and pay $20 or so to find out it's not possible....Any help here would appreciated

well, for one, the e90's dont have angels as DRL's at all. angel's as DRL's are specific to the coupe. it can be reprogrammed, im sure but whether or not the shop has the right programs, that i dunno. the computer that they use are pretty basic. no command lines or nothing to re-write code. its just on or off. obviously i dont believe that the angel eye option for DRL's is listed as on of the options in their computer

Someone from Europe already confirmed that if you take both the DTC and DSC off then it removes the speed limiter. Next time you're on the track let us know if that works.

dang. i thought this will leave angels on as DRL............

so if no mod, there is NO WAY for Canadian e90s to have angle eyes without the halogen? Even if doing parking lights?

Washing my car this evening. Didn't have my Canon charged up...so could only take a snapshot with my cell phone. Gives you a general idea of LUX 3.0 angel eyes and DRL disable. Maybe some more proper photos next week...
