Are you 100% sure the flywheel is caputto? The noise disappeared after a while and the flywheel would not repair itself.
When I replaced my clutch I also noticed the large lash when rotating the flywheel back and forth, but the radial play was not noticeable. |

According to my tech it's the radial play that's the most critical error in this specific case.

if you want to see actual tranny failure on a BMW, here is from last Friday at MIR.............this is carnage.
Quote:
and an iphone video showing the carnage. Glad Boris was ok and is smart enough to have a trans blanket to keep the energy and damage to the transmission. This could have easily caused him serious harm otherwise. Said it almost broke his hand when the transmission tried to twist when it released from the engine. ------------------------ he already has the engine pulled to set up a Powerglide on it. He doesnt waste any time!!!

OK, my shop just ordered a 1M flywheel, and according to the tech it will fit perfectly!
The price is also the same. It weights 2.1 kg less. This will be very interesting! |

I know multiple persons (including me) that had the next clutch fail too shortly after the original clutch (ok, slicks and all of that, but still). I think it has to do with the flywheel surface not being in top shape after some abuse even with the stock clutch. I decided to upgrade both the flywheel and clutch the next time, I don't want another clutch lasting 5000km.

UPDATE.
The 1M flywheel does NOT fit on a 335i. The 1M flywheel is bolted with 6 bolts and the 335i flywheel is bolted with 8 bolts... There was also some difference between the bearings. ...so a brand new 335i flywheel is on it's way to my shop as we speak. Here's my old flywheel, take a look at the huge radial play: |

Sorry to hear about the mismatch. The tech may need to refurbish his math or language skills
