Correct Parameters to Disable the Occupancy Sensor
Hello,
Finally I got mine disabled after spending 2 long nights trying to clear the 2 x ACSM2.C09 codes : - 93C1 Seat occupancy detector, passenger - 93C3 Seat occupancy detector, passenger which caused the infamous and very annoying "Passenger Restraint System Malfunction" error on the Idrive/OBC on my E93 335i 03/2007. I figured out the correct way to do it because disabling the 2 x OC3 parameters, unplugging the 3 x wires Plug under the passenger seat and clearing the error memory with Inpa didn't clear out the errors. I spent some time disabling other parameters and testing till I got it done at the end, The Passenger Seat Belt Sensor and Seat Belt warning also have to be disabled in order to clear out the error. I have attached a photo from my Airbag/ACSM2.C09 ECU after having the errors cleared, with all the needed parameters to be Disabled, Hopefully this will help someone fix this very annoying error too. Cheers Rogero. |

Hi,
I recently had to remove my driver's seat to change the seat belt receiver. I now have the Air Bag Light stuck on. Apparently it can be turned off if I disconnect the occupancy sensor mat and then turning it off using NCSEXPERT. The posts that I've read say the connector is at the back of the seat but I can't find any plug at the back of the seat, only the plugs at the front of the seat. Anyone know which plug needs to be disconnected? It's a 2007 335i E93. Also, is there a way to de-activate it using the JB4? I was able to disable the TPMS using JB4 and if there's a way to do this for the air bag, that would be great also. Thanks! Ken |

You can clear the code with JB4 speedo 1 and tach 6. |

I'd like the side airbags to go off too but someone told me side airbags are built into my OEM seats and my new recaro seats do not have the side airbags. So not sure what's what there

Do you think if I code out the seats airbags that the front airbags and side curtain airbags will still go off in a crash? What about seat belt pre-tensioners? My fear if I code out my front seat side airbags is that the pretensioner, front airbags, and side curtains will not deploy

*** someone correct me if I'm wrong on this one. I put a Recaro race seat on my driver side... and I code the Driver's side-airbag to disable and clear the warning light on dashboard. Since I reuse the original seat belt component on my Recaro so I don't think it has any affect on it.

I still want the side curtain from A pillar to C pillar, along with seat belt tensioner to still work even though you and I disable side impact airbags.

My assumption is that if the Seat Occupancy Detector (OC-3 Mat) is coded out, the MRS5 module will behave as though the sensor is faulty and assume that the passenger seat is occupied and activate the restraint systems. Otherwise, the indicator for front passenger airbag deactivation would be lit. If that is in fact the case, the front passenger seat would no longer be safe for a small child in a child restraint system.
I also believe that the seat belt tensioner is activated as long as the seat belt is fastened. Of course, all of this is speculative as the US MRS system differs from the rest of the world due to NHTSA regulations making it difficult to determine the exact functionality without a crash test dummy...caveat emptor! How are you getting into abg module? In NCSexpert I have CAS, FRM, NFRM one of those 3 I must choose first.

Read the FA (vehicle order) from the CAS or FRM/NFRM module (depending upon which FRM version you have) and then go back and select the ECU to be coded (i.e. ABG)...I usually consider CAS to be the authoritative source for the FA, FRM modules are too flaky...

808AWD325xi question, I have LITERALLY nickte_active everything in my ABG module on my e92 using NCS dummies. I know my car took it cause the next day I pulled the module info again using NCS expert and loaded the new .trc file up to NCS dummies. Sure enough, everything is deactivated.
Yet, my gauges still show a restraint system malfunction. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a way to clear this in INPA and see if later it pops back up? I'm at a loss. **EDIT** I cleared all codes in INPA and they still remain. Here is a list of codes on showing on MRS:

All of the K-words for the E89 daten can be found in the C:\NCSEXPER\DATEN\E89AT.000 file. Ping testdriver, maybe he can help: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=734738 I'm in the middle of a long distance move right now and don't have a lot of spare time to assist. Best of luck and report back what worked for you!

To anyone who is having trouble with disabling the occupancy sensor, I hope my experience helps--I spent hours and days enabling and disabling various codes, along with using different daten files and versions of NCS Expert and found these things to work:
Install latest version of NCS Expert (V4.0.1) Make sure you have latest daten files (v60.1 as of this writing) If you've messed around with activating and de-activating random sensors and modules, go ahead and do a fresh install from the daten file to the module (in this case, I did a fresh install of my ABG module) Have your 4pin occupancy sensor plug connected Power car on and load NCS Expert Pull the ABG module as you normally would for coding In my case, I set parameters OC3 and GK/OC3/POL to nicht_aktiv Execute Turn car off Disconnect occupancy sensor plug Turn car on and run INPA Clear error codes through Functional Jobs and Karosserie > Airbag MRS5 Shut car off and wait 5 minutes This is what worked for me. I read so many threads online and was getting frustrated. Just start fresh with the latest daten files and go from there. Good luck. Last edited by nuron; 06-10-2017 at 02:16 PM.. |

I'm going to add my experience to this. Setting both OC3 parameters to nicht-aktiv & changing SBR_BEIFAHRER_1 to nicht_aktiv, then unplugging the occupancy sensor & clearing the codes worked perfectly.
SBR_BEIFAHRER_1 is the seat belt reminder for the passenger, which needs to be disabled as the module assumes there's someone sitting in the seat & they should be buckled up. This was on a 2010 E90 LCI (euro spec). |
