Yeah, I could be wrong, but I believe it's while the vehicle is still status 111 (Order Accepted) that you can still change stuff up. Once it hits 112 (Scheduled Production Date) you are kinda screwed :P
That works out to the ~3 days prior to production like I mentioned. In other news, just got off the phone with BMW NA and the rep said he thinks i'll be scheduled for production "if not tomorrow then Monday or Tuesday." yay?

Honestly, what had happen was goes like this. When we first struck a deal the orginal time frame was a verbal agreement of August delivery. However, he bumped me up (someone canceled an order) and everything was faxed stated mid-late June delivery.
When I checked the production number via 1800#, that dude said "production week 23, so out of experience, and you being on the east coast, expect early July delivery". I was happy. So now I call up my dealer yesterday and told him my production number wasn't working, and he knew my number got deleted by checking his system. He did mention "hey remember what we spoke about before with the august delivery?" I was lilke "yeah thats true". But, I feel really disappointed if the car comes in late August or early september, who knows maybe later? He got my hopes up for late june early July. What kind case should I build to get a discount if any now? |

Well... when my production number got deleted, this is what happened...
CA gave me the new production number. The spec of the new production number was the exact same as the original spec on the old production number (aka space gray comfort access blah blah crap i didn't need). So - my dealer never LOST their allocation. They just received a new production number for the allocation. Maybe that week of time was lost, but that's it, they still had the space reserved for 1 3-series order. He changed the options again to what I wanted on my ride, and everything was set. In other words, your dealer is probably still allocated 1 orderable 3-series, you just need to get a hold of that production number!

yea, maybe just ask for a free option for all the run around... maybe even some free floor mats or something.

Just went on OC and found my car totally changed
Found out my production # had been changed, moved from week 23 to week 25 and now to week 21 all in one week. What a rollercoaster ride.

Sweet! Moved Up, but still waiting...
Quote:
I found out that my car actually starts production on the 4th of June, which I believe is the 23rd week, and rolls off the line on the 27th. Then figure roughly eight weeks (CA estimate) to get to the states and it will be getting there a little before I get home. Now that's a great Welcome Home gift!! BTW, Justice at Otto's BMW is working with me via email to have all the accessories installed before I get home. +1 for Otto's.

It only takes 1 week for production then 1 week to the boat.
Most ships have been taking 3 weeks to the east coast. I don't know where you are getting 8 weeks for the boat ride?

I'm still at waiting for Production with No Production date. I need to stop calling this # everyday, it's driving me crazy. I was told June Production so I still have 3 more weeks to go till June.

Yeah I call the automated system at least once a day... and i still have at least 2 weeks to go before even getting a scheduled prod date :\
I also talk to a rep once every 3-4 days... they are always way different in what they say about it. For example, the last guy said it'll be scheduled for production either today or monday/tues...? Which makes no sense.. bleh

Yeah you should go into production about a week before me. The guy I talked was very friendly and said I should probably wait a few more weeks before sometime happens and then the fun would begin with it going into diff stages along the way. He said I could call back everyday if I wanted. That was a mistake to tell me.

I got a print out from the dealerspeed system from a friend who's a CA (I didn't buy from him, he's in another state) and mine says:
Conf. Prod [Yr/Mo/Wk]: 2007/06/23. I wonder how solid this is? Has anyone else seen their printout?

Blah, reading the threads about people that are all like "yeah i got one of my dealers current allocations, so my vehicle went into production 4 days after I ordered!" gets me all loopy, because that's what I did and it's taking 5 weeks just to enter production >.<

That is like me too, I saw my dealer's allocation on his paper right in front of me, it was a Alpine white 335 coupe and he used that and changed it to my preferences and I walked out the door that day from the dealer with my prod # in hand. I thought it might go into prod before June and it still could but it's bugging me cause I don't know if could happen before June or not till June.

if it's still "On Order," you should be okay. (status 111)

FWIW, when I ordered it, I specified delivery 15SEPT07, to allow two weeks buffer for delays.

Ice, if I were you, I would unquestionably call off the 07 order and put the deposit towards Week 1 2008 Production. You will save yourself anywhere from $2500-5000 (at least!) in depreciation by doing this, and you will only have to wait one, two, three, MAYBE four weeks after you get back from the sand castle.
Plus, your car will be "brand brand" new for quite a while - always a sweet feeling. I consider myself somewhat of a moron for not doing this, but I just don't think I could wait another 3 months. For you it'd be.... another 3 weeks. Do it!
