huh?

I can see the manufacturing planning guys having this conversation.....

Guy #1: "We have sooo many units to build, what should we DO?"

Guy #2: "Hey, I have an idea; instead of continuing at full production rates and MAKING MONEY, let's STOP production altogether! That should help the situation!"

uh, did you mean the queue is full so they are not taking orders? That's a bit different from stopping PRODUCTION.

No...the comment was...in all likelyhood...

"Why are we selling to these Americans when we can make a much larger profit selling to our European brothers and sisters? Let's send less to the States and make more money doing business on this Continent!!! When the exchange rates normalize, we can revisit this. Now...let's go get some beer and schnitzel,"

I have established a contact with someone at the Regensburg plant (where the E9* are produced), and I have asked him how much, if any, of this is true. I'll post his response when I get it...

Fuel pump

I've just been told by my dealer that production has been slowed due to fuel pump problems.

Makes sense...just not smart business sense if they didn't nip this in the bud a while back. They should have been leaning forward on this based on historical problems. ...chalk it up for a lesson identified....and learned.

That's wrong...They would STOP producing cars if that was the case...not just "slow it down"

Unless the rate in which the assembly line is receiving "good" fuel pumps is less than the planned production rate of the car factory - that would be an example of why the assemply line might slow down but not stop. Not saying that is what is happening, just giving a hypothetical example of how a limited parts supply scenario can slow assembly line rates but not stop them. It happens all the time in today's manufacturing world, is more common than in the past due to modern JIT and LM production principles.

and maybe this explains why all the folks over here with bad fuel pumps are waiting so long to receive a new fuel pump.....every fuel pump sent over to NA to fix a broken car represents one less car coming down the manufacturing line given a limited supply of fuel pumps, which impacts revenue and profitabilty? again, I have no info here, just hypothesizing.

If this is true, would that affect confirmed date delivery ED's? I doubt they would push back ED's as people plan their whole vacation.such as me..around that specified date.

Exclamation OMG Fools Gold

Would you just do a search under Googlefinance for BMW and call the corporate HQ in Germany, and ask for the President, you will eventually get an english speaking person Best Time 9:15 German time (look it up) tell thenm you are a customer and ask what the heck is going on Dish with 1 post, added to the fracus

Damn, you all, the 335 does not have a fuel pump recall, no safety warnings
and it is not all over te German Press. My 335 cab is still to be built next week and I will pick it up before the end of May, I Just got back from the German Dealer who handles diplomatic sales, I heard him talk to his person
in Munich and no delays just a lot of demand.

It would be all over If this was really the case

You are so right. There is nothing about it in any of the industry trade journals like Automotive Week or similar. So, I highly doubt this whole production stop thing is for real.

My 335 went into production Monday, May 7th and is scheduled to be finished by May 12th. This is what the 800 number tells me. As far as the production stopping or slowing down still hasn't been proven.

The only thing that makes sense is BMW stopping dealers from ordering new cars with brand new production numbers when there are already production numbers out there with no names attached to the cars.

My dealer took a car that was in the 112 status (ready to go into production) that had no name attached to it and modified that car to the color and options that I wanted, and put my name on it. Once he did this, then it went into production the next week.

Gossip, but there is a shortage of N54s. Currently BMW can not keep up with the demand.

Well, that may be the official posture as of now, but why, then, are the fuel pumps on such a long backorder? (I've been waiting for two months now.) There is no question that these pumps are failing at high rates; correct?

The Fuel Pump Problem is not all over the presses, THe German dealers have not see a large percentage of cars involved. I am sorry that you must wait
but thats what Lemon laws are for

THe Germans, like the Americans are not going to stop production unless there is a Huge Problem

Now rumors due to unhappy customers Please , we do feel your pain
but not everyone is effected

production will not stop. Demand is huge though and the wait time will continue to be 3 months or so. I'm looking at an August delivery but will only be certain by the end of this month when the july allocations get sent out. I better have a July allocation or i'll be pissed.

Or you could wait for the Sept production

and get an 08, the factory shuts down for retooling August . to gear up for Sept production.
