Not PROcede related; he said he brought it back to stock form and still has the same problems.

If the problem wasn't there before the Procede was installed then it's most likely that something happened during the install. I would triple check to see if the pins are in the right order.

The c-reader gave me error msg 0304 which stands for malfunction of cylinder number 4. ??? i feel like returning the car to the dealer and have them fix it...
There is still something wrong with your work. Like Jon said, I'm guessing some wires are crossed up. I just sent you a PM as well.

You'll be amazed how different Terry is in real life. His Internet image doesn't seem to match his real personality.

That's the impression I have from those at German Invasion, but he's the eternal shitheel in the persona he affects here. It's almost worse, as I always imagine his "web persona" to be a symptom affected by Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Tay sachs, or Dick in Mouth Disease (that's one I invented for Terry).

Ah I'm actually a pretty nice guy, I think you guys take the forum a little too seriously sometimes. It's all in good fun.

I enjoy Terry's "dose of reality" and the fact that he's skeptical, unlike most of the fanboys here.

Terry is definitely a bit different than most of us. He would never post in the tone above.

I will continue to monitor this, and should it occur again, I will take it to the dealer to have it checked out. However, judging from what other ppl have experienced, it seems that this might be an ongoing and sporadic problem with stock 335i's that BMW may in fact be dealing with. I do not have a code reader, so I don't know exactly what caused the "Engine Malfunction" which put it into "limp mode." Like I said in my 1st post, the light turned off and malfunction resolved itself after I shut off the car and restarted (after filling up my gas tank). My car runs as it should...with PROcede of course.

For the record though, I would like to say that I'm confident that it's cause does not stem from the PRocede, but rather something else in the 335i's engine electronics and monitoring system (that just happened to arise at 9,300 mi.). If it does not appear again, I will forget all about it!
How were you able to eliminate the boost / boost control and timing out as possible reasons? What do you suspect instead?

I think i figured out what went wrong with the install... and why the car started throwing the 0304 and 1121 codes at me.... I tested the Vishnu harness with the bypass caps on with my voltmeter... specifically the thick yellow wire with the 2 sets of wires coming out going into 6 and 7 connectors in the ECU. One of the pairs worked just fine (current went through the yellow wire through the bypass and back the black wire). The second pair the circuit WAS NOT CLOSED with the bypass on, meaning that the current couldnt get through the yellow wire and back through the black. which means that when my car had the chip installed it ran with one of the pairs practically DISCONNECTED (no 6 or 7 wires)!.... Is that possible? and how would that have affected my engine?
now this is only SPECULATION, but i know my chip was shipped with one of the first new harnesses by a third party manufacturer... so im wondering if that has something to do with it... hmmm

You have a bad spark plug, bad injector or coils.

What kind of symptoms did your car have? Was the problem intermittent (like mine)? Did you have problems starting it... was the idle rough? Mine idles just fine with an intermittent skip (the fourth cylinder not firing) but when you step on it it it chokes up some... Now i'm getting paranoid that it could be the HPP on my car as well and have to sit on the sidelines for a long time to come... not good.

"Dingleberry" also comes to mind...with a slight chuckle. Heh, I feel like just putting him in a playful headlock and smothering him with some noogies.

To shiv and others, try not to take his childlike banter too seriously. He seems like he knows his stuff but nevertheless, can't run away from the fact that he was always the kid to come in "second" place. Therefore he has to target the "winners" with discouraging and spiteful comments. The majority know that shiv has a great product out on the market with heartfelt and genuine support to back it up. Anyone who feels otherwise is certainly free to their opinion, but when at the level of Terry's intentionally belligerent remarks and almost jekyll and hyde like persona, one has to assume his or her motives as deeper than just facetious forum chatter. *End semi-drunk rant*

Oh and sorry to the OP, but it seemed like you somewaht resolved your issue and the ongoing topic was Terrie's unpopularity....

The engine malfunction & limp mode hasn't returned thus far, and hopefully it won't ever again. Maybe it was just some strange anomaly or maybe the engine's diagnostic systems "thought" there was some kind of error and it reacted the way it's supposed to...who knows?
