See my link below for burnt wood effect dash (it's a Jaguar XF concept):
Yeah I am not sure how that was done (it's a concept meaning 1-off) you could easily get a print shop w/ a high-def printer to do this on 1 sheet in a repeating pattern (same process as a vehicle wrap)

I went to 3M directly (I have a semi-business) so they talked to me sent me samples (the samples are worthless for anything other than getting a look/feel at product)

You can order however much that you would like, they don't have a whole lot of wood. It sounds like you will need to do the same as I advised above

Anyone know what will hold up better in the heat? Di-Noc or 1080 Scotchprint? I fell in love with that Burshed Black Aluminum.

Di-Noc I would say, but if you're wrapping interior trim, I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I test wrapped the small dash piece in the brushed graphite DI-NOC. The first 80 degree day it pulled away at the corners. It was my first try so your mileage may vary.

The new 1080 is deigned by 3M to be used as an exterior wrap, while at the same time the Di-Noc has been proven to last over time (for most people). I'd probably go for the 1080 as it's slightly thinner and there for easier to work with.

Man, Auto Vinyl Solutions did it to me too. I wrapped my dash trim and it lloked really nice, but I thought it was a bit light. Comparing samples, it looks like they sent me Brushed Titanium. While it still looks good, I'm pissed that I paid for Brushed Steel and didn't get it. I'm not going to peel it off and start over. I guess I'll just find another vendor next time!

Old thread, but this might be useful

Been doing alot of research on wrapping interior pieces on my E38, and this thread comes up alot. I have some scrap extra trim pieces so I wrapped one with a sample of each of my "candidates". I tried samples of 3M Di-Noc and ScotchPrint. Here's what they look like against black interior in moderate sunlight:

Close ups here:
View post on imgur.com

Additional notes:
- scotchprint is significantly thinner and way more susceptible to over-heating when applying
- scotchprint shows imperfections on the surface where as the di-noc rarely does. This was especially visible over the cracks in the outer finish on the pictured wood trim
- Di-Noc is harder to work with on compound curves
- Di-Noc black carbon fiber has a blue-gray hue under direct bright light, especially LED light
- Scotchprint black carbon fiber looks cheap compared to the di-noc

My top 3 of the set were brushed titanium, black CF dinoc, and graphic CF dinoc. If the brushed titanium were available in the dinoc material (and according to 3m, there is something similar, but I can't find anyone who will sell me less than the whole $1000 roll), i'd get that, but as it is, I'm going with the graphite CF dinoc

For anyone that has the problem of the vinyl peeling around the corners: try using the 3m 94 adhesive promoter.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-3M-Tape-Ad...328642&vxp=mtr

Just apply in the areas that need that extra stick. (Corners, and around the vents)

This is great for those who live where its hot most of the time. I have used this because my interior is all black, and don't want the heat from the sun to loosen up the vinyl over time.

To revive this old thread... I applied the 1080 brushed steel this time last year, and around my vents and in other places it began to peel back. Around my start/stop button it is wrinkling. It looks tacky but two months ago it looked OEM.

Two things to note:
1) Whatever you use, whatever conditions you live in, use the 3m 94 Primer in a can (not the pens). The pens have hardly anything in them and many people complain of the pens drying out almost immediately.

2) Di-Noc holds up to wear/tear better, but is slightly harder to work with. With that said, it is not at all hard to work with if you watch videos or read up on feedback. There is an "instruct able" on how to apply Di Noc CA-421, the dry carbon, which applies to all vinyls. It had great tips that really help.

As a side note, I have the gray interior, and the front dash pieces and center console are Di-Noc CA-421 carbon, but my arm rest trim pieces are still the brushed Steel 1080 because Carbon would look goofy/cheap. It is a very nice match for gray interior E90/E92's because of the black/gray center console and dashboard, vs. the all gray door panels. If this makes sense or is useful to anyone, I'm more than happy to post pics when I'm back in town. Very worthwhile to know the two points above before ordering, though!

So I cannot find the di-noc 3M ME-379 "Brushed Graphite" anywhere

Anyone know if there are any sellers still available? Brushed Steel is too dark and Brushed Aluminum is too light.

Besides I think Di-Noc brushed looks much nicer than the 1080 series.

I don't think you can buy Brushed Graphite anymore.
I'm thinking about selling my trim set wrapped in brushed graphite though if anyone is interested. I have non-idrive e92 and looking for OEM brushed aluminum.

Any word on brushed graphite? I’d love to wrap my trim with that finish. Steel is too light and the black metallic is too dark.

I ordered a bunch of samples from metrorestyling and found these two from Avery to be pretty good. I'm going with the brushed steel, as I thought the Anthracite was too light. The brushed steel was definitely a few shades lighter than 3M's black metallic.
