What version of software is 7844945 (DME/DDE); 7844971 (EGS)?
I pulled this information from INPA... On 10/12/2010, my 01/2009 build e92 M3 DCT was updated by the dealer...not sure if this updated me to 231E or not...hoping so... Thanks for your assistance...R |

I'm thinking so...
So now i'm trying to sort out how best to get my dealer to update my software to 240E to take advantage of some of the performance enhancements noted in the 2011 or later cars...i.e. improvements to DCT, throttle, etc?... any advice?...was hoping to request an upgrade based on SIB 28 07 08 June-09 Double-clutch Transmission with Drivelog M3 with M DCT - Complaint of Delayed Throttle Response...but my software is past the version where this fix was installed... argh? |

What is the reason in updating? What benefits do you attain?
What if you are running a custom tune? I guess I don't understand this thread.

Not personally tested but that's what many people reported. If you are running a custom tune already then you won't gain anything... |

looks like an independent with autologic can program the car for $130usd...was hoping to have the dealer do it - but not thinking they would do so without "a reason/problem"...if anyone knows what might twist the dealer's arm to updating my car, it'll save me some dollars...otherwise, i'll go the independent route...
thx! |

software updated today via autologic - did this work?
so today i went to a local autologic shop and asked them to update my 2009 e92 m3 DCT to the latest software...they told me they updated the DME, EGS, DSC, CAS, KOMBI, and PDC modules...going into inpa - all these modules show a date of 24.11.2015...so that looks good to me...they changed from 12.10.2010...the original versions were from 2008...the car was born 01/2009...
here's my question: going into tool32 to check the i-levels, the following is reported: JOB_STATUS = OKAY I_STUFE_WERK = E89X-08-09-530 I_STUFE_HO = E89X-10-09-511 I_STUFE_HO_BACKUP = E89X-15-03-501 previous to today's update, the i-levels showed as: JOB_STATUS = OKAY I_STUFE_WERK = E89X-08-09-530 I_STUFE_HO = E89X-10-09-511 I_STUFE_HO_BACKUP = E89X-10-09-511 sooooo - my question is: shouldn't the I_STUFE_HO value equal the current software version?...mine shows the previous version...why does the 2015 software installed today show in the I_STUFE_HO_BACKUP field and my I_STUFE_HO value shows the previous version? |

Your car will have a software integration level commonly known as 'I-LEVEL' / 'I-STUFE' (German) Basically BMW use a piece of software called ISTA-P which uses dates files to update various modules in your car. When BMW have software updates ready they will release a new version of ISTA-P. Say some of the software updates are for the E9x chassis the integration level will also be updated. ISTA-P version is currently at 3.59.5.00 i think (not 100%) So, taking the version above as an example. The daten files used to update and code modules are v59.5 I haven't got latest I-level spreadsheet but I know for E9X at v59.0 it was: E89x-16-03-502 This has remained the same since ISTA-P 3.58.0 where I-LEVEL was. E89x-15-11-500 If you car hasn't been updated by dealer since your purchase, it hasn't been updated this year there will 99% be available updates for your car. If you want to update your car yourself in to easiest way possible...you'll need: - A powerful laptop - Download and install ISTA-P (standalone links available all over net) - An ICOM cable - At least a 50a power supply, better 70a, to keep car at 13.8v while updating modules. - Time. Depending on what modules you'll have the update will take several hours. Alternatively, go to dealer, whinge about a problem and suggest a software update... Or the hard way. As above, but use winkfp with a download set of daten files (google for links). Use comfort mode in winkfp to update modules then code to default after with ncsexpert... |
