http://blog.autoworld.com.my/index.p...lts-announced/ Here's a quote of what they said: "2.5-litre to 3-litre – BMW N55B30 3.0-litre Twin-Scroll Turbo This category has been BMW’s playground since the award’s inception, with 2003 and 2004 being the only years that the gong did not land in Munich. This year, it’s a one-two finish for the Bavarians with the petrol-powered N55B30 twin-scroll turbo engine taking top honours followed by the twin turbo version of the N57D30 3.0-litre diesel. Most BMW models bearing the 35i designation now use the N55, though some, like the Z4, continue with the older twin turbo N54 of similar performance. The engine produces 306hp and 400Nm, the latter served on a window that spans from 1,200 to 5,000rpm." And to finish i only say that this year the award returned to the N54 because they awarded the "evolution" of the N54 not the original one, that's very clear when they quote the M Coupe, Z4is and 335is |

Please check my post before, there is N55, it was one of the candidates in the 2.5 to 3.0 liter category but it ended up fifth after N54T, new 3.0 liter Mperformance diesel, Boxster's 2.7 liter, regular BMW 3.0 diesel. The sixth and last after N55 is Audi/VW V6 TDI.

Ok for the V8 and Mini. The others may be the best engine, but not for the cars they\
3.2 olde m3 is by far better than the old 3.0 (now turbocharged...). A for cylinder 328... Jesus are we ( BMWs) starting to compete with Audis??? Hope not... Let's try to learn with the new Porsche engines (and cars...).

Learn from Porsche's engines? I sure hope not. I test drove a 991 C2S recently as a probable replacement for my E92 M3. I was bitterly disappointed. As far as engine note goes, it's no where near the music from the S65 V8. It's probably fine if u have never owned the S65 before.

I traded my S65 for a N54T. I am currently awaiting the outcome of the new M3/M4. Both badass in their own right but the S65 is beautiful and. I do miss it. I wonder that the petrol version of the triturbo will be like. A BMW heart for the FTMW.

I can see why you would want the N54T for its daily driving virtues. In the perfect world I would have N54T, S65, S85, and S54 all in the same garage. I came very close to realizing that dream but am still searching.......I guess that's the journey for us car guys.

It's just a representative photo (showing several BMW engines) for the story on our homepage.

At the end, if you like the engine in your car good for you, you could do that without spitting on others; it doesn't need to impress anybody else other than yourself. N55 of course is a fine engine and I personally prefer the N54 under actual circumstances, such a big deal! This can change in the future when they start thinking bigger about that N55 and not just the emissions and so and give it a push it needs. Even BMW M division prefered the N54 when they needed to make a choice for the 1M project or for the Z4is or for the pepped up 335 which is 335is, according to you M divison and other engineers and executives in BMW were also people with their heads up their asses I assume. We all are stupid stupid people including this worthless Award judges. It would be respectful for some guys to just say that congratulations to N54 for yet another win as it is an important milestone engine for BMW, instead of finding bizarre excuses about why they voted for it and not for your own car's engine. I for sure will be happy for N55 owners when it starts to get more serious and gets more acclaim and consequently wipe some awards too. |
