How about keep the 330i and get a Lotus Elise for £10k for the garage. Get a car cover and tell your wife it is a new lawnmower.

I'll have to whisper this so as not to upset anyone. If I am absolutely honest, I don't really like the look of the e92 (sorry sorry sorry - I know I should love it and I've really tried, but I just don't - yet).

The problem is if I keep the 330i then add another £10K of cost into the equation by buying a 'silly' car then I've got a lot of explaining to do since this is effectively just extra cost.

On the other hand .... if I buy 2 cars totalling £30K (ish) I can convince my wife that the costs are equivalent to the 330i.

Maybe a 2 year old 320d msport plus a lotus elise ?

or even ... an M3 and an elise !!!!!!!!!!!!

Good idea, but the exhausts on the elise are in the wrong place.

e46 you mean carls dads (e92) m3 beater

well it is, the stats speak for themselves and most m3 manual drivers are not the best in the world and the 335d is so easy to go quick in:rocks:

But if you get rid of the 330i presumably you won't get 30k for it so you'll need to put a chunk of cash and explain that anyway?!

From left field, how about a Z3 M ? Or even Z3 M coupe? Bet you can pick them up for peanuts these days and something a bit different. That plus a used, lower down range 3 series for the missus. The options are endless!

Don't rush to judge... Carl may have actually surveyed most Manual M3 drivers in the world and compiled KPIs (sorry couldn't resist) then plotted a chart of "good" vs "bad" before coming out with a statement that at first appears to be sweeping generalisation but no doubt is backed up by some damn thorough analysis which Carl will now reveal ;-)

I'm sorry, I fear that at least part of the increased sarcasm is down to me. I blame Carl, he brings out the worst in me in that respect and he responds to it so well and in good spirit that it makes it all the more fun.

yes your right, they aint the best in the world. A good 'KPI' (Key Point Indicator for those who maybe a little unsure) of an average m3 driver is that they dont know when to 'unleash' those many ponies they possess under that 'bulging' bonnet

i came across one today, a late one AT THAT being an '06' oohh how posh and i tried goading but i must say what a WASTE of a car. He deserved in all honesty a chinkay chento... not a 'drivers car' m3, he did not even attempt to put the young 'cheeky chappy aka 'numpty' aka 'dxb' in his place

but earlier today i came across another young lad, OBVIOUSLY into his BMW's but not quite as priviledged as oneself as he was drivin an ancient e36 328i on a 'K' plate, ( i honestly didnt realise cars where about as long ago as that....??!!) and he quite enjoyed being 'dieselled' as we both turned onto the duel carraigeway and i proceeded to open a can of

'WHOOP ASS' on him

because as i was densiling him (that means going past him very fast in a car which is run on diesel would you believe, man cars these days eh...) he gave the thumbs up . Proceeded to follow me into town pull next to me at the lights and tell me how gorgeous i was, or the car was or something....:rocks:

so why is it a young man in an older bmw will enjoy his not so drivers car but the m3 driver hardly enjoys his 'DRIVERS CAR' lol

maybe they should swap cars, then the new found owner of the 328i could sell it and upgrade to the chinkay chento and look proper

anyhow i must go to bed and rest, night my friends and lovers

see you tomorrow

Carl

oh yeah P.s squeeze the only time im on here is when im at home, i rarely get to abuse the work internet as im never in the office.... oh and id miss you too

Carl
Yet again another great post, keep em coming.

Oh and remind me not to come to Essex in my 335d....

And it takes me ages to decypher your young 'text' speak, I am not as 'yuuf full' as I used to be. At first I thought a Chinkey Chento was your local takeaway but assume you are talking small Fiats???

best way to finance a a new bmw

Hi help required /advise
When i buy a new car i always pay cash (my choice) the last car i purchased a x5 3.0d sport cost 41k i have done 10k mls and just px against a new e90 for £23.5k adding another £8k to get what i want am i going about this the right way ?? i hate debts im 42 and paid of my mortgage i have no hp/loans /finance etc but the bmw salesman was pushing finance options on me am i correct thinking a car depreciates awfully and then the cost of finance on top at i think 12.9% was on one of them boards near the car ? if i kept the 34k the new car cost in building society can some one do the sums and advise me ?? or is cash best thanks

To me it is a 'no brainer'. If you have the cash use that to buy the car. Regrettably, I do not own my house outright and do not have £40K of cash to buy my car outright, therefore for me its finance!

The only way you should ever take out finance is if it is at an APR lower than what you can make (net) in a savings account. On a BMW that is very unlikely.

What is your secret? I am 41, in a great job, with decent salary and have a F7*&^&*g huge mortgage
