my pager range is 2000ft. i think there is an upgrade to 1mile which costs about £60? i think the fob lasts 3 months (i need to double check that) and is rechargeable with a little micro usb, looks to be the same one as my camera. |

Mine has lasted approx 18 weeks before showing the low battery sysmbol, just plug it in with the usb wall socket and its fully charged within 90 minutes.
Even if the remote died on you, your key can still full arm / disarm the alarm

It's the 5704 that I had fitted, I think it is also known as 5202, their numbering system is very confusing - Viper & Clifford are the same company which is one of the best known names in car security.

Hmm will have to check how far away car is from office. Think the 1mile one might be sensible !
Do they not offer something like the Clifford Callguard system where it can text you regardless of range ?

I think there is something similar in the Viper range, which is Clifford anyway, not sure of the cost though
edit snipped from #22 Viper smartstart which is the tracking system which connects your smartphone to your viper alarm system. If your alarm goes off you smart phone will mimic the sound of your siren through the smartstart app. From this app you can also lock arm/unlock your car. Pop the boot. Remote start (if fitted to the car) And locate the car at anytime. With geo fences and gps speed detections the list of features for Smartstart go on and on. Smartstart is £400 fitted with a £100 a year subscription. You can download the app now from your app store. Just search for viper smartstart on iTunes, blackberry or android. Below is a link to our website for more information on key cloning. There is also a videos of our demo M3 fitted with our full system and all the extras add on we offer.* http://www.securemycar.co.uk/bmw-stolen.html |

just seen the proximity sensor / warn away in action for the first time (included in the group buy package), two colleagues just walked out to have a look at my mods & my pager buzzed me a vibration warning, outside the car was flashing its lights, no noise & nothing intrusive enough to bother pedestrians or people in car parks but clear enough to let anyone paying attention to the car know there's an extra alarm armed and not to bother.

yeah love it, the 2way pager gives peace of mind that goes beyond just the OBD issue and i believe is just generally worth the investment if you don't consider your car replaceable.. I'd nearly got myself sold on the smart start package but it was too expensive for me to justify. After having the alarm fitted im very happy, i don't see how the car could be much more secure than it now is & my reasons for wanting smartstart may have been more because of the appeal of controlling the car from my phone as apposed to extra security, i'm easily drawn to gimmicks.

I like the windows closing when the alarm is set too, although I may have to find out if this can be switched if we ever get a warm day. There are quite a few built in features like car finder - activate & the alarm chirps once and flashes the parking lights for about 10 seconds - useful if you lose the car in a car park |

I'm going to have to put an expiry date on this offer, as it seems to come in in drips and drabs. Doesn't seem fair for the people who have had it fitted and not received the 10% off even tho their name is on the list. So expiry date on this offer is 10pm tonight (16th September 2012)
Names so far booked in are: Ians100 Vblanche Alex.devol Siren_g. |

Have to say i do now feel ripped off by this group buy. IMO giving 12 hours notice to get 6 bookings on a Sunday is effectively cancelling an offer without admitting to it, and after people have already paid up. there was obviously still plenty of interest from members looking to buy the product several of which have apparently been trying to book in.
To post a group buy, then allow members to buy a product with promise of a £80 refund once the numbers are made up, but then cancel the offer days later before the group buy had chance to fairly run its course is totally unfair and underhand. I'm not criticising the product which so far seems to work well, but for me this transaction has left a very sour feeling and i'll definitely be more cautious to get involved in a group buy before things are confirmed going forward. |

Has anyone else had trouble contacting these guys since their alarm has been fitted?
I've sent 3 or 4 emails since having my alarm fitted 4 weeks ago and not had one reply but before it was fitted they were very prompt. |
