Just got some 265/35/18 235/40/18 PSS mounted today on some Forgestar F14's! So far so good. Really good traction in rain today.

If you don't mind, could you post some daylight pictures of the 18" F14's with the 235/265 PSS mounted? I'm thinking of getting this exact same setup but am nervous that trading down from 19" will look crappy. On the flipside, do you notice any performance difference?

Well I got them mounted yesterday and it was raining, so it's hard to speak for performance. But, the PSS seem to be awesome on wet roads and the 18's are like driving on pillows compared to 19's... Also the matte black looks 100 times better in person (it gets washed out in pictures.) I have had numerous people tell me they look a lot better than the LM Reps "the old rims were too much.... like a lot of chrome on some cars."

I will try to get some day time pics... also sorry for the thread hijack haha.

Yes let us know. I am thinking of making this exact switch.

I currently have OEM type 225 19" wheels with Michelin pilot super sport 225/40/19 front and 255/35/19 rear.

I agree that the pilot super sports are phenomenal, and certainly a big improvement over run flat.

There's no doubt 18" would have better ride and be lighter. In my case I'd save almost 10lbs at each corner.

My questions are if lateral handling is worse with the 18", and how 18 looks specifically on an E92 with Forgestar F14's. I have LeMans blue and would probably go with silver F14's. My 19" type 225 do look awesome...

I suspect 18" wheels may look better in black finish because the delineating line where the metal meets rubber is lower contrast, and the black rims look great on your white E92, but on my blue car black wheels may look to murdered out.

Also, when you say the ride is softer on the 18" wheels, what type of tire were you running when you were 19"? Were they also pilot super sport?

You do know that with 450trw and 500whp, any 275 tire will spin... Hankooks RS3s are the stickiest street tires you can buy. With that being said, R888s and NT01s will hook up better but severely loose grip consistancy after a few laps or when they get too hot.

Even 285 won't. I break traction in 2nd with 400+whp but 3rd is ok with fresh tires. After a couple thousand miles 3rd is 'ify.' You will just need more rubber, LOL.

I may go to 18's to...20's look good but are not the best for handling/track but are decent.

How new are they? Give it a month or 2, haha.

i was running nearly bald M/T et street II's in 265/40/18 and the traction was epic.

It was squirming a bit in 2nd, blowing them off in 1st but 3rd was always dead hooked. At the track I did not spin 1st even once.

the right compound is all it takes. Having the nice tall 40 series sidewall also makes a huge difference.

and why they are bald

now i'm running 255 square PSS, car feels so much better but obviously the traction has suffered.

My M3 should be around 500-520whp / 450-480lbft and weighs 3190 w a half tank for reference.

PSS

and a perfect size reference showing how much taller the 40 series tires are....essentially gave me a taller rear end final gear. 2nd went to 72mph. Also an aid in traction.

and for fun before I put the PSS on
