Rudi I meant after the car show on Sunday... we could drive 1.5 hours South to the area where Andreas lives. Andreas showed me this small mountain pass and some old Castles and ruins. Very cool area. Adreas even said he see's a lot of BMW and Audi testwagens driving on those roads! So you know they are good roads. I was thinking of just one night at some hotel down there... and a nice drive during the next day. Then we could have one more lunch or diner together and then depart our own ways back home.

Thoughts ?


Yea Rick... I too really liked that Motel-One.de hotel. It was cheap and clean and just a few paces to the U-bahn stop. Downtown was just a 12 min U-bahn ride.

I will still look for another hotel... on my next trip down to Munchen later this month.

For me the motel one in Garching looks good and it's near the ///M studio's.
Couldn't you arrange a guided tour saterday afternoon????
I'm also game for driving to the Kufstein area after the meet and do some driving and sightseeing on monday.

Hummm... the ///M Studio is a good idea. I will have to tap into some of my sources and see. Saturday afternoon sounds like a good time for us to tour the M studio. I will have to ask and see what they say.


Last year we staged our cars in front of the M GmbH just a few hundred meters down the street from Motel-One in Garching. We then drove the 14kms or so to the Welt.

Like I said, I will have a 4 day weekend so I'm going to check out Munich early. That's why I'd like to have a hotel in a good location for sight-seeing.

I plan on having some cool mods in time for the show.

Im hoping to have a 4 day that weekend as well. Not sure as of yet, it isnt a USAREUR training holiday so i doubt we will. But we will be just coming back from post deployment block leave so there is a chance....

If its not a 4 day then ill be coming down early Saturday most likely and then going back sunday night.

Id be down for exploring Munich on Saturday. Love that city a lot.

BMW Classic is just opend on work days, thats right

If you really drive from Munich to Kufstein, you need to take the "Tatzelwurm" from Bayrischzell to Oberaudorf! From there its 20 Minutes to Kufstein. The Tatzelwurm is a bit like the "Dragons Tail" . I did it last Year (with my brand new KW) and it was a blast . Just watch out for some crazy Bikers...

Its not a hole Day Trip, but if you really want to Kufstein, i would take it. Its maybe a hour more than the Autobahn directly to Kufstein.

^this way we can exit the autobahn directly in oberaudorf - and drive the cool tatzelwurm and thiersee roads to kufstein

depending on how much time/daylight we have left on sunday we could then drive some of our "secret" local roads i drove with david last year!

news from alex regarding the Leonardo Royal Hotel Munich

some of you already wrote me a pm and were asking for benefits in the hotel in question.
As I am no longer working for this hotel (respectively the whole hotel business) there were no nagotiations with this hotel.
I will meet the general manager of the hotel in person today and I will ask him if there is interest in a collaboration again and if there is a chance of discounted prices.
There will be a statement with my opinion until the end of the week.
