My build date 10/06.... am I fucked?

Or does build date not matter- current software matters...?

Hi guys,
Build date does not matter one bit. The OpenFlash Tablet will work with ANY MSD80/81 software/ROM version. Right now the only limitation is mapping support. At launch, we will be providing OTS map and XDF/Definition files for IJEOS and I8AOS rom types which should cover 99% of all US market cars. If, by some strange twist of fate, you install the OpenFlash Tablet and it tells you that you have another ROM type, just email the 2.1mb ROM file to me and I'll work out the XDF file and generate OTS maps for it. This may take 1-3 days depending on how many people send me non IJEOS/I8AOS ROM files

Here's how to tell what DME software you have prior to installing the OpenFlash Tablet.

After you select what car you have (z4, 135, 335, 1m, etc,.) you will see this screen:

Click on "DME Info" and you will see this screen:

Right under "Software Number" you will see ROM ID. Pretty easy

As a guy with a stock 07 335i who will probably only get a tune and dci what the better route to go? A flash like this or a piggyback system? Sorry if its a stupid question but I have never tuned any of my vehicles before.

If you prefer ease of install, the flash plugs right into your OBD port inside the car, so there is no need to physically go into the ecu box and mess with the wires like you would for the piggy back.

I believe Shiv mentioned that he would be supplying some E30 and E50 OTS maps in the near future.

Yes, you just need to unmarry the device from your vehicle before marrying it to another vehicle.

I don't mind install. Just wondering on a performance basis what the better choice is

Ahh I see. I'm not entirely sure what a stock car has made with just a procede only, but Walker just dyno'd his entirely stock car and saw a delta of 80whp and 115wtq just using the OpenFlash OTS maps alone. Not sure what your intentions are in the future for modding, but this device isn't half bad for what it offers to a stock car!

On a stock car, you're not likely to run into fueling problems, so either flash or piggy is going to work fine.

If I was in your position, given the initial reviews, I would definitely go for the OpenFlash without thinking twice. It's the least expensive tune and it seems to perform exceptionally well with no customization. If you want to upgrade your turbo's in the future, you can pick up a JB4 or PROcede to dial in boost.

Currently it's not Coding the Transmission ECU, so I am guessing it doesn't.

Shiv!

My rom is IJE0SIGA3S and i have DualClucthTransmission. Does you IJEOS OTS support DualClucthTranny, or other words is there any differences between IEJOS AT or IJEOS DCT maps?

No difference worth mentioning. In fact, our first test car was a Z4 with DCT. It also had IJEOS software.

With this flash and only dci is it really expected to get over 350 hp to the wheels? Not complaining but it sounds high doesn't it???

Different dynos and different cars will put down different numbers. Especially in different conditions and on different fuels. But the 355-360whp we have seen on cars with only DCIs should be in line what was most users will see. Nothing is guaranteed of course since the tune is only one small part of the equation. But judging by what we have seen ourselves and the feedback we have gotten back from our best testers, our OTS maps will surprise you. Pleasantly, I hope

Both bank 1 and bank 2 Fuel tables are 18x17. 2 byte cell data size. They start at 70C50 and 70F60. Multiply cell data by 0.00024414 to get lambda value. Then multiply again by 14.7 to convert to AFR.

Both 6AT and 6MT Load targets tables are 1x16. 2 byte cell data size. They start at 7337A and 73256. Divide value by 100 to get typical MSD80 load channel scaling.

Check it:
edit: Found the box I forgot to check. Fuel tables and load table now look correct, but my timing table is still a ways off. Is it easy to merge XDF definition files? Maybe I could help define tables while you sort through the hex?

I can't seem to get my tables data to look completely like yours. I seems like when I multiply the hex values to convert to lambda, its actually converting to gasoline AFR, and even yet, some of them are obviously way wrong. The timing tables is strange looking too, but the values are all xx.00 or xx.50, so they look like your average timing step, just not a fluid table like yours.

For timing, click the "Signed" box.
For AFR, click the "LSB" box.
