So, if you have Logic 7, you can just use the amp in the eonon unit and not worry about hooking into the car's amp? Or is there an adapter you can buy instead of having to rewire?

The unit does look nice but u have to remove the entire bracket behind the original head unit which then means theres nothing supporting the eonon so because its such a bad fit, u will find that when you go over a bump, your entire headunit will fall right out.

You also have to shave the plastic off your climate control unit aswel which looks hideous.

I feel i may have made a mistake buying this unit but it cost the same amount to ship it back to china as it did to buy it.

I have had no resolution from eonon and dont expect one either.

I hope u have some luck with your buttons and havent thrown your cash away.

A few other issues i had was.
The sat nav does not speak and does not tell turn by turn.

There is no picture in picture so whats on the screen stays on the screen.

The radio does not store your stations so have to put them in everytime u start the car.

Do some research in to this and the fitting before parting with your cash.
Fitment freaks me out. With all the shit I went through with my m3 style bumper that should have only required a shaving of the oil cooler (and a million other things not mentioned) I dont think I would want to deal with this. Looks great and I would love to have a screen in my car but doesnt look worth the pain.

Having Logic 7, and having install this head unit, I will have to admit the built in amp in the 5165 is quite powerful. I have my rear speakers and sub to an amp, and the front speakers (run wires directly from the BMW amp harness to your head unit) and the front speakers are just as powerful as the rear ones !! So yes, you can run all your wires from the harness to the 5165 and it would sound nice

Hi guys.

Since my first post i have ironed out most of the issues with my D5165.

I have it fitting best it can using the solution posted on here using the 2 long screws and now it sits quite snug. Petrudes a little at the bottom but i can live with that.

The sat nav voice has just happened to start working on its on, didnt fiddle around with anything.

The USB2 port for the 3G dongle has been confirmed by Eonon that it wont work with a UK USB dongle, this is a shame because it would have been a great feature to have internet access in the car.

I was a little disappointed that the unit doesnt support PIP.

So now for my question.

I stated in my first post that the unit would not remember my radio stations or the time. I was advised by Eonon that i needed to connect the BATT wire to a constant 12v source. Eonon have said the BATT wire is the red wire in the harness how ever it was stated on here that its the yellow wire.

Can someone confirm if which wire needs the 12v constant if they know please.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I installed the unit and everything seems to be working fine except for the sound. I have NO sound! I have the Logic 7 stereo, but from what I've read I have to wire from the back of the unit directly to the amp harness? Seriously?? Isn't there an easier way to get the sound to work? I wouldn't even know where to start. Which lead (from the back of the unit, such as front right speaker) goes to which hole in the harness? And is there something I can buy to make a wire fit properly into the harness?

I really like this unit, but if I can't have sound, what is the point? This is seriously disappointing that the sound isn't working and having to wire is the solution...

Hi My335iTT, you can install the unit as Paulhannah68 mentioned, using the 2 long screws and now it sits quite snug. Please have a try, thanks!

Hi Paul, glad to hear you have ironed out most of the issues, great job! Welcome to share with us your latest installation pics after using the 2 long screws. Thanks!

About the BATT wire, you can check the wiring diagram on the user manual again to know which one exactly. Thanks a lot!

Hi shaushshaush, thanks a lot for sharing! Really useful indeed for those who are considering about using the logic 7 or our bulilt-in amp.

As I've said before, using the built-in amp is also with good sound quality and easy to use! Cheers!

No, this does not help! How do I know which output, such as front audio output L, goes to what position in the harness. This is your idea of customer support, providing a link to this same thread?

It may look and sound confusing, but it really wasnt that bad to find the proper wiring and "splicing" into the BMW harness in the back. Here is some helpful info for wiring directly from BMW harness in the back to the head unit :

LOGIC7 - Amplifier to Speakers

SUB LEFT
Red/White +
Brown/Yellow -
SUB RIGHT
Red/Blue +
Brown/White -
FRONT LEFT
Blue/White +
Blue/Brown -
FRONT RIGHT
Blue/Black +
Blue/Brown -
REAR LEFT
Yellow/Red +
Yellow/Brown -
REAR RIGHT
Blue/Green +
Blue/Brown -
CENTER
Black/White +
Black/Brown -
REAR LEFT WOOFER
Yellow/Red +
Yellow/Brown -
REAR RIGHT WOOFER
Blue/Green +
Blue/Brown -

You really dont need an additional amp to run this Eonon 5165, unless you want to have subs, otherwise this unit is amp quite powerfully, louder than the factory radio.

shaushshaush - thanks for the help! I was able to figure it out and wire directly from the back if the unit to the speaker harness that plugs into the BMW amp.

Eonon - I am almost done installing the unit. I really like what I see so far. The only suggestion I have is for your company to provide installation and wiring instructions for those of us who have the Logic 7 sound system, or (and even better) build a harness that works with the Logic 7 system so wiring isn't necessary.

Once I get this unit completely installed and use it for a week or so, I'll provide some additional feedback.

The yellow wire, is it number 16 "Power +12v" on the wiring diagram?

Hi sgm335i, yes it's No. 16 "Power +12v" on manual's wiring diagram.
I've tried using a fuse adapter and tying into a fuse in glove box, as was recommended in this forum. In fact, I've tried 4 different spots, and my radio still will not remember the radio stations and other system programming. Any suggestions Eonon? I'm ready to send this thing back. An item marketed as plug and play shouldn't be this difficult to install.

This unit will not store my radio stations and also cuts in and out. I tried connecting the yellow batt wire to a constant 12V source, but it still does not work. I've tried 4 different sources, but it does not store my radio stations or any other settings.
A plug and play unit should not be this difficult to install. I am completely dissatisfied with this unit. In addition, it does not fit properly at the bottom where the ACC unit is.

Please give me the address where I need to send the unit so I can return it for a refund and tell me what information i need to do send with the unit when i return it.

Thank you.

I have tried this but it still does not store the radio stations or system programming. Again, a unit described as plug and play should not be this difficult to install. I found out about the Logic 7 incompatibility on this forum - there was no mention of that on your website or eBay. Having to wire the speakers individually was very time consuming. If I would have known that I never would have purchased the unit to begin with.

Hi sgm335i,
For your radio issue, please kindly PM me with your order No. and Email, we'll help you further. Thanks a lot!

Plug and play means the unit can fit your car dash and basic wiring. For the Logic 7, it’s just an option in your car, which many guys don’t have it. We don’t say it’s plug and play for Logic 7. Hope you can understand . We suggested on the website that customer should better confirm with us before purchasing.
Anyway, enjoy your unit now, it’s still a great unit so that many guys still love it very much!

Well everyone, here's my take on the radio after having it installs for almost 2 weeks :

I am running iGo Primo 2.4 on my Eonon and it looks AWESOME ! the map they send with your head unit is Kudos and it looks and sound like its from the 1970's !!! So if you can find and download iGo, definitely do that, WAY more advanced.

For what I paid for and all that it can do, it’s a pretty cool head unit, with annoying quirts here and there. It does take a good 5-8 seconds from start up to actually hear music, the SD card takes literally 3-4 minutes to read card before it shows/plays anything...that is extremely annoying, there is no sound at volume 1, it goes from 0( silent), to 1(silent) to 2(kinda too loud)...I emailed EONON and all they say is turn off the "loud" on my audio settings if its too loud at "2", which never addresses the issues or a fix for it.... ....They need a fix for that. DVD and Bluetooth works extremely well.

The red color option is pretty close to the Amber color of BMW bu not really, so I use a different color just to ad flair. The heated seat function works well, not as convienent as the BMW buttons, so you have to settings, go to the button where the heated seats are and select it this way, it works good just a hassle to get to it.

The back up cam, works 50/50, it always looks like a tv without an antenna, like it cant find a station !

Again, I hear the Dynavin radios are awesome and solid, but I cant see spending $800+ on a radio, so this is worth the money.

Hi Shaushshaush, many thanks for sharing your review after 2 weeks!
Yes, eonon units are steady and great value for the money. Enjoy!

Regarding the volume issue, please PM me your order number and Email, we will help you further. And we have reflected the Amber color LED button option to our R&D, maybe we will make it in the future, thanks a lot!

Btw, welcome to share with us more of your nice installation pics on our facebook or pic/vid channel like many other fans do:

So I informed Eonon that i have no sound at volume 1, and they emailed my an update....SO not only did my volume STILL not work on volume 1, but they email me a D5150 update for my D5165, so after the update, now my canbus is no longer working , meaning, no menu for heated seats anymore, none of the steering wheel functions are working, headunit no longer has lights on buttons, and my dashboard info no longer works. If anyone at Eonon is listening, please send me the correct D5165 files so I can get back at least the functions that I had working before.
