Stop fecking about and just fit an m3 rear axle. I suspect that will get rid of the problem..

Sorry should of explained , basically it was a combination of things that together either caused or hid the issue. Basics , I changed the alloys and tyres, fitted new springs.
Then i had the geometry re done to make sure everything was pointing in the right direction. Still had the wobble at around 75 mph. Next both rear wheel bearings were changed as the constant vibrating had caused wear. edit: Forgot, had flexi disc checked and centre prop bearing checked also. Then the geometry was checked again on a Hunter 600 and now everything else was correct they were able to set it up almost spot on. So what should have been a fairly straight forward fix [ or you would think] turned into quite a saga. Anyway, its fixed now so I'm a happy bunny!

WOW glad thats all over now!!!
I am having horrible steering wheel when braking at any speed above 40mph. Also have teh dreaded clunking when going from drive to reverse and back. Also when coming to a stop my car rocks back and fourth. NOT GOOD STUFF I changed some bushs but didnt cure anything. So i am going to change all my arms on the front end, and although my brake pedal doesnt judder when braking, i will change them just in case they are warped too... Such a pain! |

Spoke to soon!!!!! Fucking thing i'm going to burn the bastard!
Give it a bit of a boot and felt as if something moved at the back, wheel wobble is back again.

Since you guys are posting about suspension related stuff, I got a little issue (well I think I do, maybe Im crazy lol)
I do get some serious rubbing on corners (when over 35mph or when going through bumps) but it seems it mostly happens on the rear left side (not the drivers side). When car is parked, I also notice that the gap between left wheel/tyre and the top of arch is shorter on the left side too (confirming rubbing). As you guys maybe know, my rear arches are "M3" ones to match the M3 bumper. Maybe tomorrow I will take pics for you guys to see it. Would it be springs related or maybe something not properly right? maybe a broken spring? When driving everything seems to be normal apart from when going on potholes, i do feel the left rear hits a bit harder. Anyways, I will be getting new wheels soon from Chris and he assured me the new wheels would eliminate by rubbing (planning to get the 19" ISPIRI ISR10). Current ones I have are DOTZ MUGGELO 9.5 ET32

Hi Merlin
It really is a wind up! It feels as if the whole axle moves when under hard acceleration, could rear sub frame bushes cause this maybe ? I've tried everything else

Its probably a real long shot, but how about getting it on a rolling road?
That can help highlight alignment problems and you could have a look round it (to some degree) while its being run |

Especially if on one side, could cause the rear end to *crab*, which would set up vibration, do the rear tyres shown any signs of funny scuffing on the edges ?? When it was up in the air (unloaded) during your last work, it could have returned to the *correct* position, but once you pushed it hard, any play in sub-frame bushes would let it move again. Which would account for you initially thinking you had cured it. Unless they are absolutely trashed you are unlikely to spot it, or be able to detect with a lever, with the weight and forces involved, you are never going to reproduce with a tyre lever !! Like others, only a theory, but one has to be right eventually ! |

Dont suppose you have the part number for the M3 bushes? Do they fit on the 335i without further tinkering ?

Front = 33 31 2 283 382 x 2 Rear = 33 31 2 283 383 x 2 Straight swap, but will obviously need another geometry set-up. You won't like the price, approx. £43.00 each !! Michael. |
