i wonder if you can paint over (under?) all the lettering except the sport mode, in other words easily modify the faceplate of the gearnob. I'd just black out everything except sport mode... Otheriwse there is some mismatching on it thatbugs me.
The 1 series Automatic has a differently shaped knob, smaller a bit, with sharper lines to it which I thought looked great. I suggest for people looking to mod their auto but not sure on the M5 unit, to give that one a try. took this one in the loaner car. ![]()

Couldn't quite get to it yet. I talked to the Tech and he didn't keep his notes from the last install and the wiring in the shifter console is quite messy, looks like you need to tap into two separate wiring harness to get it to work. I can post some pics on the E92 when it comes in though.

I'd be interested in knowing how to figure out how to tap the wiring for the pattern to properly light up...

Required materials already submitted to a shop. I am working on a DIY custom harness which you can retrofit back to stock easily so it wouldn't void the warranty. Please stay tune and be patient.

looks good, just kind of weird to have a knob where the shift patterns don't match up to the actual ones. I'd like to see the confused look on the Valet's face if you ever have to get valet parking, they will probably break your shifter trying to go left into reverse.

some places you go there isn't much of a choice though. I agree I don't like people touching my car either. Valet parked a few weeks back and noticed the valet was rummaging around in my glove box. Nothing in there to see, but besides the point. A valet also recently backed an SUV in to my friends new Cayman S shortly after he valeted. Maybe I should rethink my stance
