So said and done on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is this DIY?
And how expensive is it? Knowing what we know now.

For me it was expensive as I had to get my blind from the states (they are super rare in the uk), and I had to buy a new parcel shelf with the cutout.
That said if you can buy the shelf and blind cheap, then its a pretty simple job to install, (4 or 5), getting the correct jbbr is a bit tricky too (but the info above defo helps)... Coding is pretty easy with NCSexpert (3 or 4). I'd say its a 5-7 job overall, cost will depend on shelf/blind and jbbr sourcing. Any competent diy'er can do this job, if fitting an aftermarket radio (or a set of speakers) is a big job, then please dont start this as it may be too difficult.

Getting a correct JBE should be easy now ![]() I can confirm, I never coded anything before and it took me 10~20 minutes. (I also coded the digital speedometer option ![]() Quote:

I can't say that the H4 will work or not, I know that when I used an H4 it did not work. An H3 should work, but you will need to make sure that the H3 is using the same (or newer) firmware AND that you dump the currect config (using NCSexpert) from the old H3. DO NOT just buy an H3 and plug it it, this could damage you car.

So your H3 config is on the "new" H3 Do not start the car with the "new" H3 until you have done the coding. Quote:

Make it mate.
If you were in the UK, I'd make you one and put it in the post, I've made loads of these for people in the past. All you need is 5m of speaker wire and the 4x pins. Go to a car junk yard (where they break cars), and then cut the 54 pin plug from the Jbbr (under the glovebox). Then remove 4 pins and solder the wires/pins to your 5m speaker cable and then install. You may need the 3 pin purple plug for the blind end. If you get stuck, let me know and if you are happy to cover the costs, i'll make you one.

Happy new year.

1: have you coded the blind into the cars cas and lfrm 2: have you coded the blind into the HVAC module. 3: have you replaced the JBBR for the correct one (with the blind relay modules). 4: does the car have heated seat? Rear blind and heated seats are not just plug and play, they need coding. If the seat lights blink a few times and go off, the either no heated seats or no coding. The rear blind must have the correct jbbr (as in MUST), it will not work with the one you have installed. The JBBR needs to be the correct type, in my case the M (not l1,l2,l3,h1,h2,h3,h4), some say the h3 and/or the h4 will work, but i tried both and neither did, only the M jbbr worked. You must code the car (cas and lfrm) with the correct option code (sa VO $415) and then save, and then blank code the hvac, (and then recode with you custom configs if you have any). Coding VO $415 to the cas and nfrm will tell the car it has the blind and black coding the hvac will set the buttons up for the correct items. (the blind). HTH

just did this retrofit on a 2006 325i no ccc and k-line can
I used: 2008 sunblind, wiring, and buttons (donor car had cic) 2006 original IHK 2012 jbbfe 3r or jbbfe iiir kl(from a convertible) coded Vin via winkpf first then vo via ncs expert for jbbr and ihk considering this was a mish mash of random parts, I'd say this retrofit is very possible |

I've been trying to track down a JBBE! So close....I found a guy selling a bunch of E90 rear shelves with rear shades AND E90 JBBEs but he mixed up the JBBEs and don't know which JBBE go with which car since he also has a ton of JBBE and shelves from non shade cars! UGH....
We are trying to figure out what JBBE part number has the shade relay? All are from late LCI 2010/2011 Sedans. One of these four 'original' parts numbers below are the only JBBEs that would be placed in a BMW 3 Series at the time my 2011 335i xDrive was made (4/2011) 61359229883 03/01/2010 — 06/07/2011 61359247476 09/01/2010 — 05/26/2011 61359267424 03/21/2011 — 06/17/2011 61359253486 03/01/2011 — 03/19/2014 There is also a replacement part number 61359364819 that supersedes these previous numbers when shopping for a brand new replacement part. At least one of these part numbers will have the sun shade relay in them. To give you an idea I attached two photos showing the insides of identical looking JBBEs but inside when you open them one has the sunshade relay and the other don't. The best way to really know is when you remove both the sunshade and JBBE from the same car. If the car has a sunshade then the JBBE has the relay. In a normal situation these relays are usually put inside the switching unit or at the sun shade body itself. The relay is just a reversing polarity switch for the to make the shade go up and down. BMW decided to hide it away inside the junction box which makes an E90 power sunshade retrofit a nightmare to do. If you can't track the part number down then any of your 2011 3 series that had a sunshade and a parted out JBBE will work in my car.

61359229883 is a Master with the blue plug on the left 61359247476 is a Master with the blue plug on the left 61359267424 is a Master with the blue plug on the left 61359253486 is a Master with the blue plug on the left Any one of these will be fine for the blind install. Just make sure your blue plug is on the left (there are right handed ones). Dump the code from your JRE and then load it to the new one, then add the blind to the VO and then default code the JRE. Remember to code the HVAC too
