I didn't buy a $55000 car to stare at a SES light over some $700 pipes I installed for performance gains. The BMS "DP Fix" is the only reputable O2 simulator available and it still requires me to crack the cowl and pull some pins in the DME harness. It would be so nice just to load a map and drive away, as I used to on my LSx cars.

Sometimes I feel like I bought the wrong car but this Cobb AP makes everything easy. No other mods and it made 60HP and 100 ft-# to the tire. My service adviser even likes it! He doesn't care about the flash tune as long as the tech working on my car isn't bothered by it.

Advances require sacrifices. To be fair, if you don't like it, don't put the downpipes. Also: not quite true re: O2 sim - the Procede CANClear functionality works pretty solidly as well.

Ah, good point indeed. How does the BMS sim work? Isn't it also fairly obviously "wired in"?

Still waiting on someone to try o2 sim spacers. I'm not worried about it though, stage 2 will clear codes.

Yep, you sort of "graft" it into the DME harness by pulling two pins from the subconnector and replace them with two pins from the BMS sim. The original wires you pulled connect to the simulator harness. It's really compact and tucks into the compartment with the wiring harness but I wished it were PnP down at the sensors.

CANclear has way too many compromises to be used in place of a proper O2 simulator. With CANclear enabled, the car will never even reach OBD readiness and it stands to hide any other legitimate fault codes you might really want to know about.

Wrong, it does not hide other legitimate fault codes.

+1. It only clears "benign" codes like catalytic conversion errors. Any real codes, like fuel pump failure (and, by extension, limp mode) are left untouched and will still get thrown.

I've had the COBB tune for a month. It was easy to install as it was to uninstall.

For those that are worried about it, the COBB AP was awesome!

Because they don't run as much timing and they run richer.

But with ATR that should be able to be changed, correct?

Yes but why would you want to run an overly lean tune and/or elevated timing which results in knock detection events?

Just picked my car up to get a new hpfp and injectors. All I did was uninstall before bringing it in and had no issues or hidden codes that I or BMW know of. Drove down the block from the dealer and reinstalling the ap now.

Well depending on your mods you might be able to use more aggressive settings.

Yes to whatever limit you feel comfortable with. Basically the atr will allow you to ride the knock sensor like the jb 3 or allow you to tune conservative to suit your car and your mods. Atr allows adjustments thats it. Its not a tune its a tool to adjust the tune.

Keep in mind not everything is about power. As i always say to my customers that get tunes for me, tell me how close to the edge you want to be ? Atr allows you to adjust the distance from the edge so to speak.
