That's due more to AT&T's "more (random) bars in more (random) places" network than the iPhone and I don't think 3.0 will do much to fix that unless there's also a hardware change coming this summer that will change the way the phone and network interact for the better.

The trend is toward more smartphones and more data and AT&T needs to add capacity to keep up with demand.

Well thats why the Pearl is on Edge only.
Then I dont have to worry about there stupid 3G network.

The guy that was selling them is a jackass.

I sent him an email saying I would pay for them, and he told me they were mine.
Yesterday got an email saying someone else offered him more and he sold them.
He didnt even ask me to offer a higher price, just sold them.

If you don't want to use their 3G network, a more budget-conscious solution is to flip the switch to turn off 3G service on your iPhone. You'll even see longer battery life.

Turn off 3G until you need it (browsing webs). I've been having this same issue, and it's just the 3G network. AT&T told me they are working on upgrades for the 3.0 switch.
