These aren't amateur sticker overlays, but actual replacements. Disassembly of the cluster and peeling off of the stock faces from their transparent plastic backing is required. Very easy and so worth it!

I went with E46 M3/E39 M5 style grey and added the oil temp range, before it was the instant fuel economy range that I had coded to oil temp anyways.

I also swapped in the M3 cruise control/redline backing plates to give it some extra pop.

I also soldered in the stepper motor and movable housing from a donor cluster's cruise control assembly. The non-m clusters already have the cutouts and soldering joints in place for it just like the OEM M3 cluster with the dynamic redline.

I need to dig into the coding more, but so far I can get the adjustable redline to move via testing but the stepper motor intervals aren't working properly, and sometimes it does weird crap. So I left it disabled for now...

If anyone has experience with programming stepper motors, shoot me a PM and maybe we can figure this out. I'd be happy to do a DIY on this as well.
I'm interested if u figure this out

Juggled a few lubricant changes with some logic like an actual brokanic:

1) Drove the car around for 15 min: heated the rear diff up
2) Came back to the garage and added some Liqui Moly Engine flush to the car and let it idle for 10 min.
3a) Got under for the rear differential; pumped out, then put back a little more than 1.3L of genuine BMW stuff (328i so the non-booster variety) until the Canadian pure maple started oozing out. Old stuff looked like American Aunt Jemima maple syrup, so glad I changed it (@87K). New plug on and stuck with half a bottle like everyone else.
3b) Dumped fluid into 9L oil box
4) Lifted car from front; put on stands up front
5) Loosened the oil cap and oil filter
6) Drained oil into same oil box; watched in horror as somehow sprung a leak at the bottom of the box (through the plastic bag that has all the oil sapper material, mind you).
7) Cleaned off (yup some small stuff) then put magnetic plug back in. Sopped up all the oil and laid down some degreaser to help wash it off.
8) Added Liqui Moly Special Tec 5W30 just over 6.5L
9) Added the Liqui Moly Ceretec (300mL)
10) Replaced oil filter
11) Lowered the car off the jack stands
12) Let it purr and continued to wipe down garage.
13) Busted out the denaturalized alcohol to run through the pump...realized I had tossed the oil box in a garbage bag to contain the madness; so proceeded to put pump into a ziploc — left it for another day.
14) Thought about how I should check out the fuel pressure pump — left it for another day
15) Thought about putting on the supreme spring mounts on that I've had in the closet as well as putting on an E36 spring pad on the rears — left if for another day.
16) Thought about how it was good that I actually torqued everything to actual spec this time (instead of "feels right")
17) Admired extra garage closet space now with all those bottles and boxes now gone.
18) Beer

- Changed the coils over to Eldor
- Changed the plugs over to NKG 95770 / one step colder & gapped then to .022
- installed MMP downpipes (on sale for $199.99)
- changed front crank shaft seal
- walnut blasted intake valves

2 years ago I added a Mishimoto catch can & walnut blasted. I can confirm that the catch can does help eliminate oil in the intake system. The valves, while they did have build up on them, didn't have as much. So, I'd say to just keep the same interval in between walnut blasting, but just know less crap is building up on your intake valves. I wouldn't extend the interval.

If you are wondering what is "gold" on the downpipes to turbo pic, I have an MMP 2" outlet taped up in gold reflective tape. Also, to the left I have a Poly 60a engine mount taped up in the same.

Partial success! Turns out the original stepper motor I soldered was damaged. Luckily I had an extra and tried that one. The dynamic redline now moves as it should!

Only issue is getting it to come up to 4500 when the engine is cold. Right now it only moved to 5700-ish after sitting overnight.

So it's likely just a coding issue, hardware is all good.

Shoutout to @Sensible for helping me iron the programming out so far!

Added some aggressiveness to the lower lip

...also got to part of my checklist and found that the fuel smell wasnt related to leaking fuel pressure regulator. Now to replace fuel vent off manifold and trace from there.

Peeled the bubbling silver metal coating off the trim piece on the gear shift knob and wrapped it with silver CF vinyl. I did manage to get the trim piece off without breaking any of the tabs and got it back on without breaking any.

It came out pretty well but is kind of dull. Actually, now that I have the aluminum dash and console trim I liked the way the silver on the knob complemented the trim. It will do for now but I need to find some vinyl that is just the right shade of silver metallic and try again.

do you have to remove the surrounding buttons to get access to it? where did you buy the part? Is it from a used cluster or a new part?

SUCCESS! The dynamic redline works and comes down as the engine oil temp warms up! Exactly like in my M3.

What M3 cluster retrofit? Original tachometer range FTW, no pointless 9K tach on a 7K motor

EDIT: Since I've been getting a lot of PMs about this, I've posted a DIY of sorts here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...php?p=24659910

You do have to remove at least one button that's beside it, but it's extremely easy with a plastic tool (to avoid damaging the button). I got this one from eBay and it was a brand new part. Takes about 10 seconds to replace.

The owner has an E92 so he's familiar with BMW gauges.
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to reach out when I get a moment!

Got back from a work trip to Chicago a couple of weeks ago... somehow my BMW's key stayed in Chicago, so it has been parked for two weeks.
Finally got a new (apparently non-refundable) key in from the dealer, car doesn't detect it or start.

So... still can't drive it

It appears you also installed antigravity magnets in the wheels! And figured out how to get trees to grow upside down. Impressive!

Seriously though, wheels and CSL lip look great!

details on this?

I'm having a new tach bit made to add oil temp to my 7K rpm cluster, but the temp based redline would be pretty sweet.

Installed Spacers

I installed spacers on my 2011 328i with stock wheels and tires (225/45 R17)

I did 12mm in the front and 15mm in the back.

Couldn't be happier with how it turned out

Nice. IF you wanted, you could press out to 15mm front and 20mm rear easily - you could even go further than that on the rears, but it depends how much you trust the bolts/spacers/lugs.
