Has it ever occurred to you as to why there are so few people here posting on this thread and yet there are so many BMW owners in Chicagoland? Could it be that the constant barrage of gay comments/references, insults, and general buffoonery simply presents everyone here as immature and not worth spending time with?

No offense to anyone here, but you guys have create this little clique of friends who've known each other for a long time and it is very difficult for anyone to jump right in. It definitely has been for me because (I must admit) it is often difficult for me to distinguish between people being sarcastic and stupid and them being serious. How are the newbies going to feel "integrated" when a vast number of the posts are riddled with various gay jokes/references and/or internal jokes that no one can understand???

Very few people overall venture into the regional forums compared to those who go into general asking a question, have it answered, then leave.

I am not taking anyone's side and will welcome anyone who wants to post.

However, I did not know anyone here for a long time, I was out of the state. I jumped right in this summer, finding the regional section to be pretty active after knowing the site for a few months, and was well received. The people I've met because of this site are very knowledgeable and helpful, and with that comes strong opinions.

Additionally, a few new members (most notably kujo aka wil) are becoming very adept at this little immature "game" we amuse ourselves with, while still offering advice and relate personal experiences when the situation presents itself, like we all do. People chime in and out often enough (Johan, Jesal, Sam, etc), everyone has their own timeline. Thread "newbs" come in and introduce themselves, and we'll answer their questions to the best of our abilities and with sincerity. I can't recall ever playing the gay game with a new poster without them fully knowing that it's all a joke.

Edit: Further, I maintain that this is place to come for answers, even with stupid questions like being confused about offset (which I have been guilty of), what a certain term means, because unlike the general forum, we will most often answer your question provided we know it, when all general will get you is a bunch of the sarcastic responses which are not at all as funny as our gay jokes.

Right...do we know each other like old friends? No...we can barely all coincide our schedules to make a meet planned months in advance. Can we joke around when we're bored like all guys I've ever known (no homo) can and do? Certainly...do we all have to be sitting around in the same apartment drinking beer and playing xbox to do so? Actually I'm new. I about 1.5 months new and I don't have any issues joining in. Met Mark and looking forward to meet everyone else actually.

Have to agree. Yes, it is all fun and games with some (well a lot) of ghey jokes flying around but the bottom line is this is a great group of guys. Everyone on here comes from various backgrounds, which IMO, is very helpful. You wanna bs about something, you come here. You want to talk about cars, you come here. You have relationship problems, you come here. To me, this is the place for answers. Yes, you will not always here what you want, but I do believe there is a lot of truth to the comments posted on here. I love this forum for because of that. I never felt, being on here for four years, that people weren't "allowed to be in the click" per se. If people don't like how we act or what we discuss, that is their problem. If you look at any given day on this thread, multiple topics are discussed. Where else can you talk about anything and everything?
