Any updates on the HFC's for those who are currently running the AE catless?

As for right now, our only option until we do another run of exhaust would only be to sell just the cats and you'd have to have them welded in by an exhaust shop. As it turns out, the place that does our mandrel bending wont only make a few of those, and I cant justify making 20 catted front sections alone at the moment because theyre not high enough in demand... Let me know if a set of cats would suffice and I can handle that for you.

Guys, I just finished installing my AE exhaust and I must say it looks awesome. Nick and the guys at AE have truly done an outstanding job.

Only one minor issue. I would install the cats about an inch to two further forward (towards the DP) cause the black shield with the 8 torx bolts hits the cats ever so slightly. Over time I am pretty sure vibration would have worn a hole into the cats. So I shimmed the plate an 1/8" with washers and it does not hit anymore.

Some notes for others that DIY in their garage. Make sure you have both male and female Torx sockets before you start. Also a 15mm wobble socket makes one of the bolts on the mid section flange much easier. Other than me trying to figure out how to ease the stock exhaust off the car by myself, the install was a breeze.

can't wait to take the car out and open it up soon.

here is a shot of the car during installation.

Yeah, It would have been too much more to get an Mtec paint it and get a diffuser. Didn't want to cut up my current bumper either.

Ok when you do another run please let us know, I'm sure there are more than enough people here who would purchase the HFC section alone.

Has anyone removed that MESH type material within the exhaust tips? Does it serve a purpose?

I was thinking that or it served some type of purpose, wanted to make sure. My style of tips has become learned to smooth insides. Only reason i ask and i actually like the smooth look compared to this, but im sure its not as bad in person or once some black burnt gases get on there.

Pics of how you fixed the cat problem would be appreciated.

What type differential do you have?

Hmm I wonder if this is tru. I dont really like the tips and was thinkin about puttin in a set of angled tips. Has anyone actually replaced the tips to confirm whether the sound changes?

I haven't actually had anyone change the tips out as far as I know but in all honesty, it should not affect the sound much. Give it a shot!

I'm going to change mine but I haven't decided on what tip to go with yet.

In theory it shouldn't affect the tone too much. If anything it will 'open up' the sound a bit more since you're removing the perforated core tips (resonated). Since they're designed like mufflers they are probably muffling the volume somewhat.
