For me there is no real benefit to going direct except maybe saving shipping costs. I do my own work so I will pull the dde myself. Looks like I'll be shipping it just like everyone else

I do have to pay shipping cost and its over 100$ for overnight one way now plus I dont have another vehicle anymore so it makes it pretty complicated. I'll have to do it one way or another soon though. |

Spoke with JR earlier today and he did verify my questions. I'm most likely going to buy in to the deal as he said he is still 2 shy of the first 10. I''ll be giving him a call friday and pay up if all goes well.

you know I have to ask about the software. Would you know (or be able to tell) if local tuners can help code some things out once this pipe is installed? I live in the original ARB state, so in order to pass the smog check (OBD read only) I need to have the ECU adjusted properly. |

Here's an example plot of the post EGR recall EGR % for one of my drives to work. It's 95% open most of the time (except coasting, or accelerating). And then a screen shot from the Torque App showing EGR and throttle position at a steadystate 70mph. The OEM intercooler already cools the intake air temps to within 7-8 deg F of ambient during cruising conditions. Even if you get a couple degrees better from a bigger intercooler the actual exhaust gas that dominates the air charge swamps that out... The anecdotal mpg increases reported by some are, I believe, based on a lack of control of the large numbers of variables involved, a desire to see an improvement, and perhaps unintentionally altered driving behavior because they're focusing on trying to see better mpg's... |

Tdi hoping you can get 11's on that run!!! Tdi your assesment although true I tend to differ on the IC. I made 3 runs on the dyno and were as follows:
1st run 318 whp 424 lbs torque 2nd run(3 minutes apart) 318 whp 425 lb torque 3rd run(we rested the car around 8 minutes) 318 whp 425 lb torque Now mind you last year when we installed the Wagner IC we clocked 312 whp no Torque since we did not know how to get it, but previous to that we had the OEM IC and we clocked at 306 whp max. but subsequently went down to 303 or 304 cant quite remember. My actual driving i can recall was around either 70-75 mph and computer readout was displaying 42 mpg, now mind you I CANNOT replicate these numbers cause there is approx over 3 million cars here on an island 100 x 35. Unlike you statehooders I have no space to do LONG runs.LOL Also , Stan would NOT sell the pipe w/o getting entire the package. This has been discussed alot, if he does sell 2deer the program it would go against what he has promoted and we dont want to bring him out of the closet on this!! I hope he does do though cause this would bring him substantial income!!

My statement about the IC was only related to steady state cruising conditions where there's no physical reason why a bigger IC would help mpg's with the OEM setup (most of it's air is coming from the very hot exhaust). On full fueling runs, did you log the DPF pressure, EGT's, Intake Air Temps, etc between the pre/post IC? I'm concerned that the small difference you saw may be related to many other variables that were not controlled (state of the DPF which significantly affects EGT's, wheel/tires, tire pressure, etc). Heck, just strapping the car down differently can make that much of a difference. Also, if you log the oxygen sensor info on a full fuel run with the OEM intercooler ... it doesn't appear to me that there's a problem with the OEM. Also, so far the fastest 1/4 mile runs have been done with OEM intercoolers. Strapped down on a dyno with little airflow through the intercooler could help with a bigger IC just due to its thermal mass difference. But without logged Intake Air Temps, DPF info, EGT's ... it doesn't seem conclusive to me. |

I was number 5 to pay redline for the tune/remap package.. I honestly thought the deal was too good to pass up at the discounted price.. Considering the time and money that I've spent making my own pipe possible.. But I had to show you guys my pipe before I get the one I purchased.. I don't want there to be any bullsh!t that I copied someones design... I copied the BMW layout of the original dpf, and had my car with less than 15,000 miles on it apart and 6 feet in the air for over a month.. Thanks for the positive feedback on my downpipe guys
