One thing I do so I can wash my car all winter is I run my hose into my house and to a faucet. This way I can always use soft water to wash my car instead of hard water from my outside faucet's.
Here's my thought... let's say I want to clean my car, but prefer to take it to the local brushless place (I'm in a hurry, lazy, water restrictions etc...). Every post I've seen says that it's okay to wash your car in a brushless wash, but that you should never dry your car after that, due to the fact all the dirt is not removed with brushless washes, and drying your car will result in swirls due to dirt still on car.

Having said that, it seems plausible that you could use OMR to remove remaining dirt after the brushless wash, which would allow you to dry the car without the risk of swirls. I know it probably makes a detailer sick to think about doing this, but it seems practical for those of us who can't spend 2 hours/week washing the car (I've got three young ones at home).

Here's a link to the demo of the product... interested in your expert opinion.

I watched the video and I must say "could they have used a cleaner car to show how the product works"

I could see using it in summer when all that is on the car is dust and maybe some water spotting.

As far as using it in winter I would do a full wash and dry because I want all the salt bits off of the paint before I start rubbing on the paint with a wash mit.

With ONR you are only leaving out one step in the whole wash, the spraying off the car. You are still washing the car and drying it. If you do try ONR, do small sections to see if any scratches are showing up. Also use good micro fiber towels to dry and a very good wash mit.

Still to me the most important thing for the paint is to put on a good wax for winter.

Good point on the car they tested this with. One question... what steps would you consider necessary for a full wash and dry?

If you are going to use ONR I would go to a spray wash place. Spray off the car and then use ONR. The thing that scares me about ONR is it can not get off the big pieces of dirt that might be stuck on the car. Spraying it first will get the big pieces off the car and then ONR can do its job better and less chance of scratching the paint.

Agreed... I would never suggest to use the ONR alone, without first washing the car. My point was that since the spray places don't get all the dirt off the car, you aren't supposed to dry the car. So, spraying the car first, and then using the ONR to get the remaining dirt off without scratching would allow you to fully dry the car without the risk of residual dirt scratching the finish.

Give it a try. Would be nice to use in the winter.

One more thing. Rinse out your wash mitt a lot. This is very important even in normal washing.
