Yea would have been good to race you.

The diff will be pulled out this wknd then will require the new bolts and inspection before I let it go. Looking at a 5 week turn around realistically due to getting bolts from USA and sending diff to QLD for a check.

It will be like new.

Put it this way I've had my car in storage for 5 months and paying mechanics to put easy stuff in.
I poured a concrete slab built a carport, now this wknd I have to pull the diff out.

I have bolts coming from Mfactory. That will take 2 weeks

Send it to QLD that will take 2-3 weeks by the time I send it he checks it and ships it back.

Should have my new setup by then.

Right axle was sheared off near the outer boot.

Pulled the exhaust and tail shaft out, the axles are off the diff.

Couldn't believe how light the tail shaft was.

The diff is ready to come out, just sitting on 3 bolts.

I'm waiting for a 36mm 12 pt socket to arrive so I can remove the axles.

You'll need a tool to press the axles out no doubt, sometimes they are really really seized in there and require a press.

Tool to press them out:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CTA-MANUF...YAAOSwR29ZDKxy

Tool to pull the new shafts into the hubs (i have never been able to do it by hand).
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DRIVE-SHA...8AAOSwpDdVDHjR

the 2nd tool is really handy, the new driveshafts need to go in and I have never been abel to push the axles in by hand enough to get the driveshaft nut on. This tool draws the axle into the hub, enough for you to get the nut on.

Cheers,

I was gong to make a brace like the link you gave for pushing the axle out if it gave me trouble.

I didn't know they would be hard to put in though

The press tool is vital, and make sure you have a long breaker bar at least 600mm in length. I found the sharp point on the tool was not great as it would just stab into the axle and put a hole in it. I ground it flat but the surface area needed to be bigger. Need to put something blunt and hardened on the end, so I had a 17mm allen socket:

Similar to the 17mm in this socket set:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/9pc-1-2-D...gAAMXQ1d1TIoNt

And shoved it on the tip of the press tool. Works very well. I put a lot of anti sieze on the threads and work it very slowly with a breaker bar to avoid galling up the threads.

Have pressed out 4 axles with mine so far seems to be holding up. Make sure you have some spare wheel bolts as the bolts can bend under the intense pressure of the tool, and they can get chewed up as you drive them in and they rub against the tool.

They are really hard to pull in by hand, but with the special tool they go in super easy and don't require much effort to drive the tool. Expensive but definitely worth the money

Made another setup like a normal axle pusher but heavy duty.

Made it with 20mm threaded rod and a base plate on 4 wheel bolts

Had a 1200mm bit of rhs as a breaker bar and sheared the 20mm threaded rod.

Not sure what to do now

You can either remove the knuckles from the car and give them to someone with a 50ton press, or simply buy another pair of knuckles (Socket has a spare pair for sale)

Pulled my hubs out and gave them to someone to press the axles out.

Should have done this rather than making my own press and wasting time.

Need to send the axles outer ends to the US so I don't have to pay a 400US core charge to AD Eng.

Axles are out of the hubs.

Going to put new wheel bearings in cause the hubs had to be heated to get the axles out.

Hopefully AD will send the diff axles and tail shaft now.

Trying to get it going for June 30 drags
