Speaking of kickboxing yesterday. Yesterday was my first class there and apparently several others. The instructor pulled us all aside to show the rudimentary basics. It's always annoying to me when you see that one guy who just tries to hit the bag their absolute hardest their first day as they are trying to prove their power. It's like focus on technique man!

I like to race faster cars, practice with better fighters, program with seniors, etc. I end up learning a lot, and if i dont learn it's AT LEAST a humbling experience which i always need.

There are always jerks that manage to get on everyone's nerves at gym/martial arts. they need to learn to relax. Most of them get humbled over the years

i did karate for 1 year, taekwondo for 1 year, and 7 star mantis kung fu for 2. I loved TKD at the time

haha yah...i traid that in syria actually when i was 9th grade. he was a good instructor. After like 400 sit ups he'd hit us with a tree trunk against the stomach... "conditioning" my ass!

Yea, i did karate for 1 year too, and then taekwondo for 4..5 years.

Its pretty sad how un-flexible i am now compared to a few years back.

i know man.. i cant do splits any more or anything. ur still young, you should be able to gain that flexibility again

why did you leave after 4-5 years?
im planning on finishing 4 years with mantis then find bagua, xingyi, or tai chi school and stick to it forever... i might stick to mantis for a while too if my current instructor becomes sifu

I can't come anywhere close to the splits but I can touch my toes with ease (no bending knees). I am pretty unflexible compared to before also. I'm working on that though. You really need it for JJ.

Yea, i used to be able to do splits both directions, now i cant even go in 1 direction let alone 2.
Why did i leave? TKD was whatevers. I was a black belt 3rd degree. I did the tournament thing. Did the competition thing. I dont know, i guess i was over it.

LOL in 4-5 years you got 3rd degree? hahaha, in case you wondered what does McDojo mean, it's what you went to (McDojang in your case) haha

u still interested in MA's? u should go back and train in something different.. something close-range, with locks, grappling, throws, etc.

Most TKD taught in the U.S. is BS IMO. Point fighting and Black Belts handed out like they are Happy Meals.

Why do you think you got sick of it? You weren't progressing anymore?

Judo is something that looks very fun IMO. The throws are so beautiful. BJ Penn was the fastest American to get a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt in 7 years. His nickname is "The Prodigy."

I went to korea to train for 3 months. It was pretty hardcore. But i think im over MA though. Maybe i the near future ill get back into it.

When you guys do MA, do you guys ever hold back because you feel like you might really injure your opponent (when your training that is)?
